I am extremely fearful of spiders. I have tried to get past my fears but I can't, the only spiders I tolerate are daddy long legs, and anything else literally terrifies me. If I see a spider I either throw a book at it to smush it (sorry, I cannot stand them) or I vacuum it up, but I'll end up staying awake all night with the lights on because I am so frightened of them. I don't care where they live outside, but when they get in my house I just freak out so I was wondering, is there any sort of repellant, either a chemical spray or something existing in nature that wouldn't be toxic that spiders hate and that would keep them away? I know this sounds a bit hysterical, but I have a phobia of them and I just would feel safer if I could keep them out. I know very little about pest control so I don't know if there is any sort of spray available or not. Any ideas on what I can do to keep them out of my home? Or at least to try to keep them out? Thanks. :)

I'm repairing a wall with plaster, and I'm putting the plaster on, but I was wondering, how do I go about making the final finish really smooth. As it is, it's sort of rough and sharp. What should I be doing?

My washing machine is about 15 years old and have found that after the final spin dry cycle has finished, that the clothes are still a little bit drippy (like it hasn't spun them fast enough to get all the excess water out) It spins, but I don't think its fast enough. Could this be the motor or what? and Is it worth fixing, or getting a new one?

How much would you pay a handyman to:
1. replace a bathroom fan that included cutting a larger hole in the celing to make room for the new fan?
2. replace a celing fan? the old one has already been removed
3. replace two outside flood lights?
4. install an 8ft flouresenct light in the garage that included putting the light together (Home Depot purchase)?

I need a touch to paint over a filled in hole, but I found the paint in the can was dried out. Since I need only a drop or two, is there any way to recycle the dry stuff at the bottom? This is a water based indoor paint.

my husband decided to install a ceiling fan himself. He was able to balance the blade as not to wobble, however, the fan makes a lot of noise when it is on. Can this be corrected with further adjustmnents or is the fan defective?

On American Inventor, one of the latest inventions is a tree stand that detects a fire and will put it out. I saw a Mythbusters show where they tried very hard with to ignite a tree using different types of lights left on for hours and hours, with no success. How likely is this to happen? I'd like to know the actual number of fires, fatal or non, caused by Christmas trees in the U.S. each year.

I live in a condo. Previously the outside water supply line fed four units at a time. They decided to split everyone up with their own valves and run the pipes through the ceiling instead of the floor. Really they just want to start charging us for water.

The maintenance guy did the work, and they asked us to pay $300 to also run the hot water pipes through the ceiling. He did really lousy work. All the valves under the sink are not secure, so they flex when you turn them. He didn't even remove the old ones. He sprayed water allover the kitchen when he first turned on the water (because he forgot to glue one of the joints) and he left me with a leaky toilet (he didnt tighten the gasket nut tight enough on the tank).

ITS SO FRUSTRATING. There was an inspector that came before he put the drywall back but he spent about FIVE SECONDS looking at the work.

By the way its TUDOR CAY CONDOMINIUMS in Tampa, Fl.

I've done a pretty good job of getting rid of smoke odor from the things from my (recently deceased) mom's belongings. But.... by washing blankets, clothes etc.. that I want to keep, now my fairly new washing machine has a slight smoke odor.

I've tried running a load of towels (and empty too) with lots of bleach. I've also sprayed pine sol and let it sit awhile. I've tried several other things, but not yet Febreze.

I'm not sure but I think the odor is trapped somewhere I cannot see or reach, perhaps on something that's rubber etc..

Any suggestions?

I have always wnated an all white bed and sheets, yet I am afraid that it would look lost with the chocate colors. Do any of you have an all white bed with vibrant color schemes? Thanks!

I just moved into a new house. It was built in 1912, so the washer/dryer location is a little screwy. The plug-in for my dryer takes around 8 feet of chord to get to, but I don't have that much. I can't find a dryer hook-up online that's more than 6 feet. Is there anything I can do to fix this? I really need some help.
