The solution to your problem can vary from case to case, depending on your particular circumstances. If you have a swamp cooler that blows into your room, that's the place to start. You should also check to see if there are any wet spots anywhere in your room, because sometimes water lines in walls may leak and build up mildew and other bacteria that can cause such smells. Mind you, you should check to make sure that only your room is affected. If another room has the same smell, it could be your vents, or device attached to the vents (AC unit/ evaporative cooler), or something in your attic, walls, floors, etc. If you DO have a swamp cooler, try getting a Zinc Anode installed into it, it helps eliminate oder there. You could also try sprinkling baking soda around your room to help the smell till you find the source.Otherwise, you may have to completely clean out your room, furniture and all, and wipe everything down with solvents.

Put out a small bowl filled halfway with White Vinegar in your room while you are away and close the door leave this in the room at least six hours or more, then remove bowl and your room should be aired out by leaving a window open for a few hours your room will then be fresh smelling again, oh don't worry if you smell a slight odor of vinegar this is normal and will dissipate within a few minutes or so Good Luck !

I had this problem a few years ago...It got so bad we wouldn't even go in there we slept in the living room for a few days, the only time I would go in there was to see if I could find the source of the problem. Well after a couple days we decided to start removing all the furniture from the room to see where it was coming from once we got to the bed we found it....My dog got into the garbage and got a pound of raw hamburger that I had thrown away and decided to hide it between my bed and the wall, The funny thing is, I had checked there already but it was down so far I couldn't see it when I scooted the mattress out. But OMG that was the nastiest smell I had ever smelled in my life. There was even maggots in the Burger...Gross I know... The maggots were even in our carpet so we pulled up the carpet and bought new, we bought a new mattress, so my dog getting into the garbage costed me a couple thousand dollars I was so P!ssed at her.
So if you have animals make sure they didn't bring anything into your room lol.

do you by any chance have a female dog? my dog sure lets some stinkers out that smells like dead fish, if not check the carpet for smells, turn on the vent and check that too, window seals, check your entire room up and down look in every nook and crany. is your house old ? older homes tend to smell mostly in the heat.
I really dont think you need to take a shower :o( some people are so crude. buy some candles or airfreshner, or both. I hope the smell goes away.
good luck

You seem to be attracting fishy answers too.
That happened to us some years ago, it was a bird that somehow got in the attic and then between the walls. So we had a smell for about a week and then it went away. You could have the same problem, maybe a different animal but the same results. Hopefully it will go away in a few days. good luck.

It could be a frog laying death around your room or inside your vent or if you have a swamp cooler this could also sometimes make your room stink fishy.

in case you reside in an apartnment, according to probability one in all your neighbours eats countless fish and the scent comes up by your vent. same is going in case you reside in a house with human beings.
