Ok, so I'm closing on my first home today. It has propane for the heating and for the stove. Can someone, who has experience tell me the pros and cons of having propane? I've heard that it's cheaper than having all electric but then a couple of people said that it's way expensive.

I have my thermostat set at 70 degrees. The air conditioner never shuts off because the thermostat reads 79 degrees. I do live on the top floor of my apartment building, which is essentially the fourth floor of the building. My maintenance person for my apartment claims that's why my apartment won't cool off. Further, when I shut off the air conditioner to save energy, I hear a "crackling" noise- like ice melting. Now that can't be normal...

I just put earnest money down for a house, but the mold inspection came back as border-line elevated mold levels. My family and I are looking to move in 4 days. Should we back out and keep looking? We're planning on living in the house for at least 5 years.
Please answer if you are knowledgeable in this area and not opinionated.

Here's my description: They started out coming up, and looked sort of like clovers, only the leaves were aligned in rows along the weed. There's probably 6-10 leaves per each stem. They've grown rather quickly. They emerged about 3 weeks ago, and now the plants are about 8 inches high. They're covering about 90% of my property.

Everything he did was shabby, I spent over two thousand dollars for Italian tile for bathroom and it all has to be torn down, beause of shabby workman ship. He put cement board on top of drywall, made me run around a buy equipment for him, shower pan cement leans toward wall, tiles ruined, cement board on top of drywall on the one wall, then tile on top of that -it's too thick. That all has to be torn down. Siding all wavy on outside, I can't get two windows open, because they are too tight, electrician never came back to finish his job. We need some help and advice on what to do. Thanks, DeeAnn

Double (or more) the insulation in your attic - I only need to turn the AC on for an hour or so on hot days
If your home is over 10 years old consider re-insultating the walls when changing your siding.
Change all lights to energy efficient
Turn things off when not in use
install new windows
Turn your thermostat down to 65 when sleeping - an extra blanket does wonders and you'll breath better - less snoring!
New construction - Our house faces due south so the roof overhang is 4 feet - result is that the lower winter sun penetrates the house providing passive heating. In the summer the sun barely gets inside. The north and east side are burried in dirt to a height ranging from 4 - 6 feet. This provides a fairly constant temp. in all seasons. Flooring plays a key role in absorbing passive heat. Cisterns recycle water.
Insulate the water heater and move to energy efficient appliances. Hot water radiant floor heating is more efficient and more comfortable.

My partner has bought a second hand digger bucket for his digger but it has a layer of concrete in it other than bashing it with a hammer how can he get it off. I thought maybe lighting a fire in it might make it easier ??? it is 5ft wide so fairly big.
