I'm looking for a larger plant that can survive in lower levels of light that has fronds similar to palms. I know palms need tons of light and can't stay inside but I love the look!

I have two palms that are indoor grown. One is like the ones you see in a dept or grocery store (i rescued it from the trash, in a cracked, leaky pot with one frond left, it's happy and healthy now), the other is a little bit bigger and from florist. Both survive well on indirect light (no direct sun)...as long as you're not the type to leave your shades closed all day and you don't keep them in a closet they should be okay. It'll help to mist them occasionally to keep the spider mites away and keep them happy...they are tropical plants.

Try a fern. They look exactly like palms. There are different varieties of ferns, both big and small and don't need a lot of light.

There are palms you can grow inside. They sell them at wal-mart and lowes.
