a good welder can reweld this back on for you.or you could have it brazed back on with brass...but it would cost more than a new skillet to have it welded or brazed...considering the sentimental value of this skillet..what you do is absolutely up to you....most welders would charge at least 35 to 50 dollars to do this...i have rebrazed many cast iron pump heads when they had cracks in them and have even welded my on skillets back together so i know it can be done

As already mentioned, it would be far cheaper to buy a new skillet, than to have it welded.
I am curious about JB Weld. Since your fracture is not actually in the cooking surface, perhaps you could re-attach the handle with JB Weld. It is a two part epoxy for metals. I just fixed a cast iron park bench with it, so I know it works on cast iron. I've actually seen a engine block glued with the stuff that was split thru the cylinder, and it ran; So I know it will take the heat.
It would be a cheap fix at about seven dollars.

A reputable weld shop can repair your cast iron skillet with nickel welding rod. It will probably cost more than buying a new one, so what is the sentimental value? JB Weld is good but I would hesitate to eat food than has been in contact with it

No repair. But you could buy vice grips to attach to the skillet and use a pot holder. Just a thought.

I feel your pain. Its tough to let go a good cast iron skillet. But the above answerer is right in that it'll be tough to fix. Perhaps you can keep it to use for baking though. For example, I use mine to bake cornbread. I'm sure you could use it to bake lots of things.

The handle can be brazed. You will need to take it to a welding shop though. The repair will be seen as it is melted brass.

Generally, once a chunk has been broken off, it's no good. Welding cast metals is EXTREMELY difficult and usually doesn't work well.
Can you use it without the handle?
