I live in Ohio.

My tulips and daffodils died after a couple of weeks. The little bush with pink flowers became flowerless after a couple of weeks... last year my irises didn't last long. Another little bush I planted a couple years ago still hasn't flowered.

I just planted some new flowers, but they are tiny and aren't doing much for the yard. I just added them to cover the baldness from all the tulips dying. Any help would be appreciated.
Preferably choices that are not too expensive.

Thanks
:)

Last year I had many tomatoes growing on the vine that started to rot before they became fully ripe. How do I stop that from happening this year?

I have a few big ones and heard that if you cut them at the soft part of the stalk, then just stick them in the ground, they'll grow. Is this true? I would really appreciate detailed instructions as I am very new at all of this. Thanks for your help!!!

I'm decorating my living room with barely any cash out of necessity. I have dark blue carpets and gry/white walls. I've decide to use pillow/cushion type seating since I cannot afford furniture. How should I go about this?

What color schemes and decor ideas should I use? I cannot paint or do anything perm.

Details welcome and much appreciated!

I just bought a new comforter set - it's dark blue with small little white flowers throughout. I'm thinking dark blue curtains will be too dark (I live in S. Florida) and I don't really want white curtains - walls are white (we are renting so don't really like the idea of painting the walls). Any suggestions - would yellow be horrible? I need help. Thank you :)

I was told an empty milk gallon-filled up with soda can pulled-tabs, could be recycled for a $30-$50 cash value. But I don't know what kind of recycling center to take them to for a cash exchange.

We're buying a house that has a standard gas furnace. It's older (70's) and will probably need to be replaced in the next few years. The house doesn't have central AC, but we would love to have it. When it comes time to replace the current furnace, can we easily replace it with a unit that is both a furnace and central AC unit?

Hi,

FIRST: Serious answers only please, I can't stand people who mindlessly post irrelevant comments!

I'm currently living in Southern CA and the summer is going to be hot like last year...and I'm living in an apartment that has windows that are such that an A/C window untis cannot be used. I know that there are "stand alone" A/C units tha can cool a room, but they are beyond by budget. Also, I don't plan on staying in this apartment much longer and would not have use for the stand alone unit in the future.

I have been told that there are "fans" that you can add ice and water to and that it will make the air a little bit cooler if you're directly in the line of the air current. Has anyone used one of these units or know about them? I have to spend a lot of time at my desk this summer and want to find a way to make this tolerable in June and July!

Thanks for your help!!!

the chimney on my house was struck by lightning, the charge traveled down the chimney and caused the tile around the fireplace to explode. a few electronic devices in the house as well as the air conditioning unit and the phone lines were damaged. if my home was properly grounded, would it have prevented the damage from the lightning strike.
