Look at your local decorating stores and see if they have any discontinued rolls of pre-pasted border trim. If they do, and they are affordable you can use them to add interest to your walls. You can use them near the ceiling as a border, chair-rail heights or even random stripes, etc. You don't use any other paste, just get the back wet, and press into place. When you are ready to move you strip it off and wash down the walls. You can pick up the colors from the border for your seating cushions. If you sew - pick up the cushions at a resale shop and using remnants you can customize your covers. If you don't sew you can still make your own covers.

By the way, if the border trim is still too expensive but you can pick up a single roll of wallpaper cheaply, cut your own strips to make a border.
Good luck and have fun! By the way - check out resale shops and you might find some great buys in seating which just needs paint or new cushions.

You can make your room beautiful! With the colors you have, why not go for deep berry colors or perhaps warm terracotta types? I found a couple of good sites with cushion type seating ideas:
1. If you can knit...
http://au.blogs.yahoo.com/better-homes-gardens/852/floor-cushion-with-tassels/
2. You could copy this if you can sew...

I would probably try to get at least one cheap chair from e-bay or a yard sale - maybe a wicker chair and wash and paint it then add a cushion to match the floor cushions. It's nice to have at least one real seat. Also, if your Mom or someone comes to visit - then you have a seat for her.
I would go for the Morrocan style is so easy because it is so different and the color combinations so delicious and spicy!
If you go to the fabric store - you can get pillow filler stuff - choose fabrics in plain colors - blue to match your walls, a spicy orange, a deep blood red, and perhaps a patterned fabric that incorporates all these colors.
I would find an old coffee table and paint it black or dark brown. If you can't afford that - find an old wooden crate from the fruit store - they can look amazing if made up right. Paint it a dark browny black. ( A good color is called Japanese Black)
Make a cloth runner in the same fabric as your floor pillows for it and put a couple of cheap chunky candles on pretty morrocan / mexican style tiles. (You can buy just one or two tiles from a tiling store - some are so beautiful) - you could get a few extra tiles to use as drink coasters.
Then, I would make about 4 big floor pillows (just square and fill with the pillow stuffer stuff (I've even cut up old sheets and clothes from the charity shop to save money - they work fine as pillow stuffers).
I would make one pillow smaller to go on the cheap chair and I would make a wall hanging - just use the patterned material and hang it on some dark painted wooden rod. If you don't have any hooks on your walls you can buy stick on ones that actually come off without any marks - they are great if you are renting.
I made a wall hanging for my living room using a long strip of black burlap (hessian) hung from a rod. I used kids paint and painted simple patterns on it and pulled threads from it and it looks really rustic and good. No one knows it only cost a few dollars.
Good luck - the sewing part might take a bit of time - but maybe your Mom or someone can help you - it could look great.

First I would price some used furniture at Salvation Army, etc.
Then, price those floor cushions - they cost more than they used too and they don't last well if used all the time.
How about different prints in blue and white? Checks, stripes,
flowers, or paisley? [ not all of them ]
Or the same idea in different color combo? Teal/aqua, hot pink/orange, purple/gray, lemon/leaf green?
Have fun and good luck!

If you can hang pictures that usually adds a lot of color along with window treatments such as colorful curtains. it really depends on the color already on the walls since you cannot paint.
