I just bought a new comforter set - it's dark blue with small little white flowers throughout. I'm thinking dark blue curtains will be too dark (I live in S. Florida) and I don't really want white curtains - walls are white (we are renting so don't really like the idea of painting the walls). Any suggestions - would yellow be horrible? I need help. Thank you :)

I liked your answer to my Josh Hancock question so much, I thought I'd answer one of yours. Admittedly, this is a male perspective on a topic that I care little about, BUT maybe that's why I would have the room done already, while you're perhaps making the decision a little too complicated. :)

Dark blue is close to black, which pratically goes with any other color. White is as neutral as it gets, so it too goes with any other color. So, nothing is going to look horrible with that comforter.

If it were me, I'd go darker than yellow. The big elephant in the room is the white walls, not the comforter. Darker curtains will contrast the walls better and bring more pop to the room. Maybe some earthy tone.

Okay, I've said too much too much on this topic, and it's making me feel weird. I gotta go watch some sports, chew some beef jerky, and beat my chest a few times.

Is there any way you would be able to purchase an extra set of sheets that goes with the comforter? Often, comforter sets have a coordinating print.

If so, you could buy an extra sheet or a set, and make or have
sewn for you a simple window treatment. You could have some small throw pillows made from the sheets too. I have done this, and it pulls a room together nicely.

I'm not sure I would go with yellow for an accent color, if your comforter set is in blue and white. I'd have to see the whole room and get an idea of what your style is like. Is your comforter set casual, or formal?

You could go with white curtains, with some bands of dark blue along the sides and hem. Tab tops with blue buttons and banding would be cute if your room is not formal.

If it's more of a dressy look, I like the idea someone suggested of lacey panels on your windows. You could also get away with a tone-on-tone pattern in white, such as stripes, which would complement your plain white walls.

Good luck.

Actually yellow would look really good w/blue & white. And than you can add yellow accent pillows to your bed & get pics that have dark blue & yellow in them. A comforter is a large peice of fabric so adding the same color curtains would be too much. Yellow is good...

Yellow would be fine; maybe yellow sheets to match and one or more yellow pillows on the bed? Could you consider a dark blue valance over the curtains?

1] white lace curtains
2] dark blue/white print - checks, dots, stripes, etc.
3] dk blue valence with neutral shades/blinds
If you want yellow curtains, you should throw in some other items in yellow - pillows, lamps, chair, candles; in other sections of the room.
