I always thought that it meant that the wall or fence was owned by both (or all) the properties that abut it. If a neighbour says that he is going to replace all his fencing (only one side of which abuts our garden) with a certain type of fencing that is completely different from what we have on all the other sides of our property, what is our position? Do we have a right of veto? Even if this neighbour says that he is going to pay for it all, and we couldn't afford to change it anyway?

I'm in the Chicago area. 2 weeks ago, the weather was spring-time warm. My cherry bush blossomed. My lilac bushes leafed out and the flower buds started to show (but not flower, yet).

Then, we had a week of frost. Culminating in about a 1/4 inch of snow last night.

Once the weather warms up again, will my lilacs still bloom?

What caused this? I've tryed everything to remove the yellowing. The vinyl flooring is white and I even tryed bleaching the area. Any suggestions or ideas? We have to keep the rugs over the area now just to hide the ugly yellowing.

I use basil, parsely, mint, thyme, and cilantro often. Anybody have any "growing" experience? What kind of temp, how much water, sunlight, etc.? Or better yet, honestly is it worth the effort? :)

I stick up posters on my wall but after a while they start flopping off. Does anyone have some tricks on how to get them to stay. Is there something better i can use other than blue-tack that won't ruin the walls so much ?

My town makes groundfault outlets mandatory in kitchens and baths and ..... despite all the hurrah I have never actually heard of anyone electrocuted..... ( perhaps mildly shocked) ..... I've only seen it suggested in the movies. Do you know of anyone ????

I am remodeling my bathroom and when I torn out the old tile i saw a severely damaged subfloor. It's not wet but had been. The rot is all around the toilet and bathtub areas and at some points goes underneath the non structural walls between rooms. I know I should cut out the bad areas and start over but what do i do about the areas of subfloor that are rotted underneath the walls? These walls are resting on joists that do not appear to be damaged, but the subfloor is soft and flaking apart. Can i suport the joist with sisters and place a new sub floor or do i need to tear down the walls and go back to a point on an adjacent joist, replace the subfloor and rebuild the walls?

I live in an 1850's building with a fireplace in the basement and first floor. I am using the one in the basement. Usually it is working fine, but when I stir it, or if I put another log on it, the smoke stops going up the flu and billows out into my apartment, filling it with smoke. This goes on for about 15 to 20 minutes until it corrects itself. Why does it do this? It is like the flu is closed, but it is clearly not, I have looked up in and I can see that it is fine. How do I stop this from happening?

Dishwasher does not clean dishes well. It seems like it doesn't get enough water or pressure in the upper tray.

My bathroom has very ugly, but quite new (from previous owner) tiling in mustard yellow with navy trim. We can't really justify the expense of removing and replacing them as they cover a lot of the bathroom walls, but having tried 2 yellows, a pale orange and a pale grey paint on the wall I just can't see that any colour other than white will go with it. I hate white paint. Please could you give me some inspiration. Our floor is slate tiling with an orangey/ mustard/ terracota vein through it
