Hmmmm, depending on how big the tiles are and how much mustard yellow is on them but you could try a terra cotta color on the walls. As you aleady said the floor has terra cotta color in it. I'm thinking if the colors will work and you could have a Mexican theme going on here. I'm just wondering what color the previous owners had on the wall. You're right about the white it would be too bland. Another option for you would be a light beige almost ivory color if you didn't want the terra cotta color. Ivory and beige are neutral colors and match just about anything.
If you're still uncomfortable about choosing a color, get paint swatch cards the exact same colors as your tiles (get them from a paint store/dealer) and when you find a match take them back to the paint dealer and they can help you with your decision. You can't take your tiles to the store so that would be the only option in matching your tile colors. I know this may take a little time in getting the exact color but most paint stores will let you take as many paint sample cards as you wish especially if you intend to purchase from them.
Good Luck!

If not white then I'd get one of the off-whites and have them tint it very lightly with the exact shade of the mustard. I don't know if the problem is with your walls or the combination of your walls with your floor. Quite frankly, the walls could offer an interesting retro look. You could even stripe the walls (thick vertical stripes) of white and very light navy (same color as the tiles but taken down a lot of shades) or a very light mustard (but still same color as tile).

Whatever you do, make sure you put primer on the walls before you paint. It makes for a clean slate when you apply another coat of paint. If you have the money, you might like to put down a new floor and paint the bathroom in neutral or pastel colors like a very light spring green or light blue.

It may be cheaper than you think to bust up the bathroom floor and put new tiles down!! I think I would look into some new tiles from home depot or Menard's. Most bathrooms only need about 320 sq.feet of tile. Price it out and u will see what I mean. that's a bathroom that is 8 ft x 4 ft= 320 sq ft. good luck

Turn your bathroom into a SPA with multiple accessories for all kinds of budgets. These amenities offer luxury right in your own home.
"Just a few inexpensive items can transform your bathroom"
* Change the color of your walls to something soothing like a gentle acqua blue or baby blue
* Keep large, thick 100 percent cotton bath towels close at hand. They will maintain their softness if you only use them for certain occasions (like your spa days).
* Get some aromatherapy candles to match your color scheme (mustard yellow-navy-light blue) Not only will the soft glow make you feel relaxed, the scent will be calming as well.
* Create a rain forest effect with Stick'n Stile design appliqués. These decorative accents of leaves and tropical plants can easily be applied to bathroom surfaces such as tile, porcelain or mirrors. Soften your stark white tile with a peaceful design of your own creation. You can also choose from other shapes and styles including dragonflies, flowers and tropical fish.

Do you have accessories for this room? Towels, shower curtain, toothbrush holder and something for the walls? Consider the theme of the accessories and their colors. Then decide which of the colors reflected that you like the best. If your accessories are reflection of the "fifties" the pinks will work very well. If you have Whimsical tastes you might copy several colors from the accessories and layer these. In any case your choice of accessories can be very helpful here.. Gray is a neutral color so it goes with just about anything. Good Luck and have fun.

It's hard to tell without seeing the room but a soft terra cotta might work. Yellows are great but are very difficult to get right. Yellows tend to change dramatically once they hit the wall.
