I am looking at a modular home that has a crawl space beneath it. At some point I want to install a rather large fishtank. My question is, as salt water weighs 8.5 pounds per gallon and I want a 180 gallon tank, what is the best way for me to reinforce the section of flooring where it will sit so that it can support that kind of weight indefinitely? Obviously, concrete would be great. But can I pour concrete into a crawl space beneath my house without causing other problems?

Should i do anything with the roots since they are root bound or should i just place in larger pot with feeding and compost and forget about it.

I am in the process of buying a house that sits on wooded property. I am looking for methods of reducing/controlling the population of biting insects so that we can enjoy being outside on our land. Any ideas aside from the obvious "wear repellent"?

i finally got a tiler to do the floor in my hall and kitchen. he arrives and gets set up to start working, while i go to work.

he rings 15 minutes later and says that he cant lay the tiles in a brickwork pattern as the floor is uneven, he can only lay them square to eachother. i'm thinking surely it doesnt matter what way you lay them, the floor is still uneven? plus its a new concrete floor.

so he rings me back 15b minutes later and says "all your tiles are different shades mate, i cant lay them as itll look awful. there are 5 different shades of tile here". so i tell him not to lay them. he leaves for another job.

later i get home to look at my dodgy tiles only to find that not a single tile has been taken out of the box.

what you think? should i just lay them myself and save 300 quid?

I am in a dispute with a contractor about the steep drain grade (6" over 8') and unlevel floor under the garage doors (1.5" left to right under 8' garage door). I am trying to find some standards used in the industry I can show. I've heard 1" slope every 10' (sloping toward the doors), and the sill area under the overhead garage door should be level.

...she seems to emerge from a slope and she has her eyes shut, it looks like she's breathing fresh air, and she has one of her arms stretched out over a little stream or something, and water falls to that stream from her wide open hand..

DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT?? thanks a lot = )

Does the roof belong to him or is it just the inside? It is a detached house split into 2 flats. I live in the one below but own the freehold of the whole building.

We just upgraded from a queen bed set to a king bed set. With the queen set we've had various comforters and duvet covers through the years, and all draped far enough over the sides to cover the mattress so you couldn't see the sheets, just the bedskirt. Now with the king bedding the duvet cover isn't very wide and barely hangs over the sides of the mattress, so now the sheets show and when we're sleeping in the bed the duvet cover barely covers the side edges. I've checked measurements with other covers and they all appear similar.

So, what's the deal?

I have square white tiles on the walls of my bathroom. Lately when I clean them I have noticed that there looks like a vein going through some of them. It's not dirt and they are not cracked. Does anyone know what this is and why it is happening? Thanks.
