I am in a dispute with a contractor about the steep drain grade (6" over 8') and unlevel floor under the garage doors (1.5" left to right under 8' garage door). I am trying to find some standards used in the industry I can show. I've heard 1" slope every 10' (sloping toward the doors), and the sill area under the overhead garage door should be level.

One inch every ten feet is pretty close... I work construction and we pour concerte roads and streets every day. Our guideline is between one eighth and one quarter of an inch per foot. Water will run off, yet it wont feel uneven when you walk over it.

the recent south wall is outwardly already in place; yet while there is a few thank you to change the backside of the wall so as that water drains by using the wall base... like in step with possibility use some grating cloth interior the wall to permit water by using. That looks to me like the finest way out. or you may build an east-west trough interior the midsection by means of elevating the present south floor a million.5 inches and sloping to not something at 11 ft north. that should be a greater problematical challenge. 12/26 i like what Papa John reported. it would be some thing like a funnel on the floor. in step with possibility the floor grooves ought to be controlled with some thing easy-weight, stable, which you left on the floor, so shallower grooves or perhaps no grooves might opt to be decrease into the previous floor. (at the instant i've got not got something particular -- to place down on the floor -- and that i'm thinking something placed on the floor makes a tripping risk too, yet you may arise with an determination that should artwork thoroughly for you.)

1 inch every 4 feet on outside stuff on a garage you can get away with a little less. 6 inches over 8 feet is crazy.1 inch and a half in the doorway .Thats no good.should be level.I am sure your garage door will sit real nice on that.I would make them redo it .They obviously didnt know what they were doing.Keeping a doorway level isnt that hard.Might try to find a way to get a more experienced concrete guy to do it.

You're right. He works for you. Check with your building dept. and then tell him what you want. If he can't or won't do it, get a contractor who will. This guy sounds lazy to me.
