What noone has mentioned, is that skunks tend to carry rabies. A friend had skunks under her front porch & someone told her to throw a few bars of irish spring soap under there. She did & within 2 days they were gone & haven't returned.

I got this info from a gardner who had an infestation of Mourning doves and tried it on coons and squirrels that came into my yard and caused damage almost constantly.
What I use is a regular battery powered radio set to a 24 your station and turned on to the point where one almost doesnt even hear the thing. Then put that radio in a plastic bag and tie that bag to a tree in the yard. Gone were the coons and squirrels, they dont seem to be comfortable around with such a thing going and particularly the variation in the voice and music. I havent tried this on skunks, but a friend tried it on snakes that infested underneath his utility barn and it worked there also.

Skunks are nighttime animals. Make sure any openings are blocked off so they can't get in under your home. (you would want to make sure they are not under it if you do this during the day. They also eat a lot of insects so try to keep your yard uninviting to them. They also will get into garbage so keep that covered and out of their smell zone. You can also use the non-kill traps to catch them and relocated them. Your area fish and game might be able to help.

I researched this when I lived in an apartment complex that backed to woods. Skunks were everwhere and one zapped my dog in the face. So like a cop I searched for the best answer. What I found was, and this will sound funny, online they sell powdered "fox pee". Apparently the scent of fox urine will discourage the skunks from coming around. I heard you sprinkle it around the perimeter of your property.

I think everybones suggestions will work with one caveat, what to do with a dead skunk? Or "bec-ker's" stink'n dog or "Sara's" just plain sink'n self ! One, and maybe there only good attribute is they're stupid (maybe not as stupid as Sara) and easy to to trap. The problem with traps, both leg and live traps, is how to deal with one very scared and pissed off skunk ! I can shoot them, but if you live in town your stuck. I let one lady borrow one of my large live traps but didn't she know what to do with the skunk, so she started feeding it. Just when she got it tamed down a little, animal control "caught wind of it" and confiscated it and my trap. Which reminds me, I need to go get my trap back. RScott

they are really slow animals so you could probably catch them. make sure you wear gloves and just chase them until you get close, grab them, and them go put them in your neighbor's yard.
