They're those little blue balls with the spikes.

I'm getting tired of the build up from dryer sheets and am looking for something that won't leave any chemicals on my clothes.

Has anyone ever tried the dryer balls? Do they soften up you clothes after a wash? And do they leave behind any odors on the clothes?

I am serious about this. I had a friend pee on my carpet while drunk. We cleaned it up and sprayed febreeze but of course the urine got in good. This may be a stupid question but how long do odors like this last. I am assuming odor eventually wears out. Does anybody know about this and I am also interested in how it works. I don't just want to cover it up, I want the odor gone.

I am tired of wasting money on plug-ins plus I love plants. My favorite smells are earthy (vanilla, patchouli, etc) I burn incense but I would love to have a plant.

I'm looking for a maid/housekeeper to perform simple daily cleaning and do laundry. I've never had a maid before, so how do I go about finding the right fit? I live in Marina Del Rey/Venice CA.
- Is it better to go to a maid service or a private individual?
- Is a background check possible/necessary?

Anything else I should know?

Bit of an odd one this, but here goes:

I re-potted my Aloe Vera plant, and a few indoor cacti just before Christmas, and since it has gotten a little warmer, I've started noticing small 'flies' hanging around the plants base, they don't appear to be affecting the plants in any way, I'm just worried that they might grow into something else, start laying eggs, increase in number or size etc. I feel they might have been living in the compost as I kept it outside...

Has anyone else encountered this before? What should I do about the plants - should I buy a different compost and re-pot the whole lot? Will it damage the plants being re-potted too many times?

Sorry I'm asking so many questions, but the flies are begining to bother me.

Pest sprays or insectasides maybe?

Only sensible answers, thanks.

A strange object about the size of a corn cob came out of the toilet and onto the floor. What could it be? It seems to be wrapped in some sort of white linen material? Should I call the health department or animal control?

I am about to go through a divorce. My house is 20 years old. I have a friend who is a real estate agent and her husband fixes homes. Together they plan to help me with supplies, etc, however, because they are giving me such a great deal, I have to do a lot of the work myself, such as painting. The problem is, I went back to work after 11 years, and my ex (who lives in the house) does nothing to help. Should I refinance my home, take 10,000 out of it, use that to fix it up so it's perfect, then get the most I can out of my money, by listing it Buy Owner? Or, pay my friend, to help me, although I'm doing a lot of the work and I'm having a hard time finding time to do it. I have 3 children and a full-time job. She suggests that i stay in the home and have him move out, but even after I refinance, my income will not be enough to cover my mortgage and all of the upkeep that goes along with a home of this size. Does anyone have any other ideas? Ever been in this situation? Thanks!!
