I painted the trim in my room a few hours ago, using a latex primer and a latex paint. The paint has dried, but there's still a slight smell in the room. I've opted to not sleep in there this evening, but was wondering if there was a standard amount of time to wait before spending extended amounts of time in a freshly-painted room.

I live in an apartment and my children have drawn on their bedroom wall with permanent red marker. I got permission from the apartment manager to repaint the room. However, I can only use White Latex Primer. I have done 3 coats already, and still the red marker bleeds through. Is there anything that will help me get the primer to cover this up or get rid of the stain?

My parents are moving to a new house and I want to help them renovate their living room. Here are a couple photos.

We need to buy a new tv cabinet, carpets, a couple single seaters that compliment the couch. We can also paint the walls and change the lighting.

I cant afford to change the carpets so we need to work with that. We have a couch which looks like the photo below but larger (2 1/2 seater). Id like to keep that as well

We also have a coffee table which a dark brown color. Keeping it is optional but ideally we can make it work.

We have Ikea and we may get some of the furniture from there. We are not going for a specific look. Basically im looking for advice on colors to paint, what style of furniture we should get and what colors they should be.But any advice would be useful.

Thanks in advance.

Hi. I live in an HDB flat and am trying to drill holes in a wall to ifix some shelves. I barely drill 0.5cm and i come across some what I believe is some iron or metal in the conrete and i am unable to drill further. A using a black and decker with a silver drill bit ideal for concrete. Has anyone come across this problem? Also does anyone know any person who would come and help out (like a handyman) at a cost of course. Hope this helps. Thanks. Chris

Hi...I've got an amaryllis that has a densly reticulated red pattern on white background...Possibly "Hercules".... Is this plant self Fertile?...I'm keeping some of its pollen for crossing on another form...Anyway...The Question is "Are these common dutch hybrids Self-Fertile?"... Can I cross this variety with another one (say, pure red or pure white) successfully?

Has anyone got any ideas what the problem could be and how we can solve it. We have the correct size regulator but would it make a difference if we were to use a larger one.

Hi - I need some help. It is a total mystery...

I have been using the same deodorant (roll on, not anti-perspirant) and laundry liquid for years, yet three weeks ago I did my washing as normal and all my shirts came out with bright red stains wherever they had come into contact with deodorant (concentrated, of course, to the underarm area).

I have soaked in salt water, nappy soaker, laundry soaker. I have pre-wash stain removed with sprays, sticks and creams, and I have bleached (both industrial strength and natural). All that works is hard laundry soap and good old elbow grease. Then I get to do it all again next wash!!

Firstly - can anyone shed some light on this matter? I have now changed deodorant and laundry liquid and it's still happening.

Secondly - can anyone offer any better suggestion to cleaning the stains - the vigorous hand washing required is ripping the fabric.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm planning on washing the ceiling, and the only idea I have come up with is using a sponge-mop so far. Anyone have any other ideas to make this easier?

In the toilet tank, there is a tube that runs down from the water level to the tank bottom. There is a small hose that drips into the hose. The hose is connected to this other thing that stands top to bottom in the tank and that thing is connected to the flush handle on the outside. The hose began dripping, frequently, into the tube. Now it's pretty much running all the time. How can I fix it or should I call a plumber? Thanks

I live in a zero lot line home (only 5 feet of space on side of house). What is a good cheap hedge, that grows at a medium to fast rate and can get at least 3-4' tall? Preferably something with color. Since I dont have much space, I want it to be trimmable to about 2-3' wide so I have a couple feet left to walk along side of house. Want the hedge to run along side of house to front sidewalk.

I have just started a vege garden and threw in a couple of sprouting potatoes, thinking that would start a patch! However, I wasn't sure if I should plant them sprout up, or sprout down, so did both to cover my bases! Both are growing! How do I ensure I am actually growing good potatoes and how long do they typically take to mature before you can pick them? Any help would be appreciated as I am an absolute gardening novice!
