Over the summer I moved to a house near a lake and we have a large bug population. I would like to attract bats to my yard and plan on getting a bat box. But I would like to know how do I attract the bats once I hang the box?

How do I get it to stop? It's faint but I can smell it on my clothes. I've tried running loads of just bleach water, but it didn't work! I've heard vinegar, but does that really work?

Hi, I just got a bunch of fan flowers/scaevola . The NC State website says they are annual but I've had luck getting some annuals to come back if we have a mild winter. These are perennials in Florida. Looking for someone with experience in NC area - do these come back after first year? Is it worth planting these at this point? or is there no hope of them coming back next year?

in doing research I have found that there are 2 primary methods ie: engineered and solid and have also read some about 'starnded' bamboo. I am hoping someone can provide some first hand insight into bamboo and its durability for an active family.

okay, so being in New York, the weather is getting cooler and it's time to turn on the HEAT.

in our old house, we had hot air heating (you know, that comes out of a vent liek central air...sorry if i called it the wrong thing.)

however, we moved and this year we have hot water baseboard heating which i don't like as much, but there was no changing my mom's mind after she saw this house. hah.

anyhow...i have a whole ton of junk under my bed and in my closet. my closet was expanded after the room was built, so hot water baseboards run through it. my concern is, is the house going to burn down???

the baseboard will be in contact with:

1) things in my closet (boxes, papers, an old backpack, pile of clothes)

2) things under my bed (more papers, old stereo equpiment)

3) my comforter and sheets.

is this a problem? i'm worried that something will catch fire or something but i have nowhere else to put the stuff. AM I OKAY?!?!? thanks!

When I lived in Florida, I never saw French doors that opened "in" to the house. Now I'm back North and it seems to be common. I thought French doors opened out (onto a porch or balcony). Is there a reason for the differences between North and South? Is it snow?

Seems like, if you clean the lint out or even wash the item, you will find lint in those same pockets later. How does it magically reappear?

Hi, I am doing some renovations on my 1 bathroom condo and need some advice.

Currently I have a bathtub but I am thinking of getting rid of the tub and installing a high end standing shower unit. As such, no more baths (haven't taken one of those in years).

I am worried about resale value. Will the value of my place be worth more with a tub? Does it matter?

Thanks in advance

Oh yes, I live in Calgary, AB, Canada if that makes a difference. And my place is a 1 Bdm and about 800 sq ft.

I just recently got some yellow Calla Lilies as a gift, and I have no idea how to care for them. How much water and sunlight do they need? Should I plant them or can I keep them as indoor plants? What about caring for them during the winter? Any help will be greatly appreciated, and thanks in advance to anyone who shares some info with me. :D
