Lowes sells oil called Pro Mix. It does not matter what the ratio is. I use it in a 50:1 blower and a 32:1 weedeater. Have used this for over a year and no problems out of either piece of equipment.

50:1 in these type of motors is always safe although different brands do recommend different mixtures. I own a small engine repair shop and always mix the ratio 50:1. The 2 cycle motors seem to run better at this ratio, using 32:1 or any lower gas content seems to fowl the plug and cause sluggish performance. Most 2 cycle oils have a content mixture on the container, just follow the directions for the amount of gas your mixing the oil with and use the 50:1 chart.

Your question makes no sense. If the "crank"?? is locked and the cord won't pull, then your action of pulling ghe spark plug, draining oil, and cleaning the spark plug would do absolutely nothing to make the crank become free and the cord more pull-able. Running 10 to 15 seconds is a sign that your carb needs rebuilt. It is probably not caused by the oil in the gas but rather it is coincidence. What is happening is that when the engine is primed (Or self priming if it is the case) that is enough gas to get it running for a few seconds but then the dirty carb or leak in it is causing insufficient fuel flow so the engine dies. Get a carb rebuilt kit for that particular engine make and model, and carb cleaner. Disassemble it, clean it, replace all parts with those in the carb rebuild kit, and it should run okay again. You need do nothing more than dump out any fuel that has oil mixed in, put fresh fuel in, and make sure the oil reservoir on the engine is filled to the correct height, and it may be a good time to change that oil too as air cooled engines are hard on oil to begin with but even worse when burning oil in fuel as the blow by gasses will contaminate the oil.

Actually not all two stroke engines use the same mixture. Some use 32:1, 40:1, 50:1 and various others. Homelite usually uses a 40:1 which is 3.2 onces of TWO cycle oil to 1 gallon of gas (I know it would seem that 32:1 would be 3.2 onces of oil but its not, go figure) I worked for Lowes for a long time in the inside L&G so I dealt with this problem quite a bit, but you can buy particular brand oils such as homelite that will have just enough to mix with a gallon of gas. Make sure you use two cycle engine oil, regular auto oil is way to thick and will build up deposits in your engine that will shorten the life of your trimmer significantly.

Hope that helps.

50:1 is the mixture. Just for reference, almost all WeedEaters, Leaf Blowers, edgers, tillers that are two stroke are 50:1.

usually a 50 to 1 mixture will do

40:1 will do fine (it is 3.2 ounces per one gallon of gas) ...

Though it would not hurt it to use a 32:1 ratio.... (which most seem to do if that have more then one 2 cycle engine, and they use different mixture requirements)
