Over the summer I moved to a house near a lake and we have a large bug population. I would like to attract bats to my yard and plan on getting a bat box. But I would like to know how do I attract the bats once I hang the box?

I'm surprised that the bats are not already there. Maybe they are and you have missed them. Habitat should already be in place for some bats. Your bat box should encourage a larger population if they are already there enjoying the bugs.

Depending if bats live in your area or not. They love fruit, so you could put little morsels out for them. The bats are a nuisance here as they eat my coconuts and ruin the fruit on mango trees.

I have a better idea.

Draw a Batman symbol on a piece of paper
cut it out and paste it to a very high powered lamp
plug it in and poin it to the sky
Soon after that Batman will appear, now that is way better than catching a little bat right.
Enjoy. ; )

Get a bat house....see link. These are expensive. You can probably get cheaper ones locally or on ebay.
