We are considering buying a hot tub! In order to get it, we need to build a level patio or deck to place it on! We want to go the cheapest route possible, but also want it to look good and last long! The area we want the deck/patio is 12 feet by 9 feet (may do 12x12, depending on price difference)! Keep in mind there will be a lot of weight on it!

Would we be better off with treated wood? Do we actually need to cement posts in the ground and build a deck on that, or would we be ok with a wood frame directly on the ground and building on that?

What about pouring cement or bricks or cement blocks? Keep in mind we will be doing this ourselves and aren't the best of handpersons, but we can do basic work.

So based on lower cost and average skill what would be the best route? Any details would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

What is the difference between galvanized pipe and black pipe in small diameters [1/2"-2"]? Is the alloy different or is the difference simply that one is galvanized?

We have recently moved house and want to know if anyone knows how to remove the old sealant around bath, shower or sink.
Is there anyway you can do it quicker than scraping it out with a knife?

This will be my second winter in this house. I need help I know alot of people will say keep the temperature at 60 but my house is very old and the pipes run in the walls so I need to keep my temperature at 70 down stairs otherwise I will have alot of problems. My next problem is my bed room gets so cold. We can turn the thurmostat up to 80 in the bed room that controlls the upstairs heat and my bed room will still be freezing. I had a space heater last year but that did not help much. I have checked everything its all insulated and I covered up all the windows so no air could get through. I don't want to do this winter to be the same as last year. Any suggestions would be great.

I have 2 "Cara Mia" rose bushes. I planted them in the early spring. One grew quite tall the other stayed short and didn't bloom much(even thought they are side by side). I live in Southern Ontario and the winters can be quite mild. What do I need to do to get my roses ready for winter? How do I prune them? do they need pruning? I bought them at Wal-Mart for $10, so they are nothing special. Thanks for any help!

My cleaning lady OVERDOSED on the bleach and pine-sol in my house and I have this irritating post-nasal drip from the fumes....literally the soap rinsed off my hands made the porcelain sizzle from so much cleaser and bleach being used.
