I have loft in my San Fernando Valley (hot, hot, hot) third floor condo. the loft is 19x8 with 8' ceiling, which is the roof of the condo. The new 'Mini-split" a/c seem to be the answer to cool that area (in addition to other a/c in the house). It will also help cool the LivRm/DinRm below, and at least keep the air moving in this large area (35x17x18 ceilings).

I've been advised to put in a 12000 BTU mini split. Is this overkill?

I have a small fire safe, sentry model 1150.
How can you open these things when you lose your key? I asked their company about ordering a new key but won't get it for about 10 days. I need it open before then!!

We recently saw some abandoned broken venitian blinds...i was convinced that the only good place for them was the skip....my partner thriftily felt they should be useful for something....what imaginative and wonderful thing might they be reused for....they won't work as blinds...even my partner will admit that!

I have a wasps nest in my loft, several semi conscious wasps are managing to get down from loft to bathroom and bedrooms. I have two young children so don't like them to breathe poisonous sprays but can't risk them being stung. Is there any way of getting rid of them without danger to ourselves ?

My yard is pretty bumpy, when I mow. I know the bigger holes and divets may have been caused by dogs that where there before I bought it. I plan to fill those in with Dirt. But, the rest is very bumpy under that grass, is there anything that can be done besides regrading it?

I was cleaning my grout with cleaner, some splashed on to my stainless steel fridge causing black spots. I have tried stainless steel cleaners and polishes, and a lot of rubbing and buffing, nothing seems to work.

My school apartment has no central light fixture in the living room and I like rooms well lit. What are some good lamps/light bulbs I can buy to light up the room? Links? Much appreciated.

My grass is dying... in patches. It hasn't been watered too much, but it hasn't been overly dry here. I'll give it a really good water a couple of times a week... but it doesn't perk up after I water it. A neighbor of mine was told that his yard had some sort of fungus, and mine looks like a more advanced stage of his yard. Crabgrass is growing, even in the dead patches, so I know that it wasn't like someone came and sprayed Round Up or something on it. Do I have to throw in the towel and dig up the whole yard or can I save it?

I planted mammouth sunflowers from seed in my garden. They have grown great! They are about 10 to 12 feet tall with the heads developing nicely but not with seeds yet. Now they are all drooping despite watering, etc. What happened?
