Use Wal-Mart brand cleaner. it's the best!

As some have mentioned you should make sure that any screen/filters are clean, the wash arm holes are free of debris and can rotate freely, the water temperature is at least 120 degrees in the dishwasher, you are getting a full filling of water and the water is emptying properly every time it gets pumped out.

Any kind or brand of dishwasher soap should work with satisfaction as long as it mixes well with your water. The water hardness and the varied minerals in the water affect the way the soaps work in the dishwasher and some will work better than others but I would not expect the soap that I use to work as well for you unless we had similar hardness and minerals.

The use of a rinse agent(Jet-Dry etc. etc...) will not get your dishes any cleaner as the purpose of a rinse agent is to lower the surface tension of the water so it runs off and does not let spots on the dishes when it dries. I have seen many times the results of people thinking more rinse agent will get them cleaner dishes and they added those little baskets of rinse agent to the dishwasher and got a white film all over the dishes and the interior of the dishwasher.

A few things to check. Check the wash arms and see if the spray holes are not clogged. Check the pump intake screen or basket, making sure it's clean. Do not over fill dishwasher with dishes, there must be space between dishes for good water circulation. Turn dishwasher on, when the water shuts off, open the door and see if the wash tub is full. Use jet dry it will stop spotting on dishes. Now there should be no reason for you to not get clean dishes.

I am a big fan of the Electrasol gel packs with Jet Dry, but sometimes I still end up with food stuck to my glasses. I have found that if I make sure that the garbage disposal is clear before I run my dishwasher I have less of an issue. I am not sure why this works or if it will even work for everyone, but you could give it a shot. Hope this helps!

Do you rinse you dishes well before placing them inside the dishwasher? You should never place dishes in the dishwasher without being rinsed, the wont get very clean. The water will just throw all the food around, because there is nowhere else for it to go.

Renegadesail"s answer is a good one==I agree with it. A pointer or two==don"t let dishes "dry-out" with food before you load the d/w==if you do=set the "prewash" cycle to wet the dishes if you are not planning to do a load at that time. Let your water run a couple mins.(hot side)in the kitchen sink to flush out all the cold water before you turn the d/w on. Also check your hot water temp.(120F will do).Low water level inside? Change your brand of detergent perhaps(Gels are good). If all else fails==talk your husband into buying a new one . Good Luck.

YOU HAVE ONE OR BOTH OF THESE PROBLEMS.EITHER THE FILTER IS BLOCKED AND/OR YOU NEED TO FILL UP YOUR RINSE AID.IF YOU DO BOTH THESE THINGS YOU WILL FIND THE DISHES WILL BECOME A LOT CLEANER.ALSO TRY A FEW DIFFERENT DETERGENTS TO SEE WHICH ONE CLEANS THE BEST.THE DEAREST IS NOT ALWAYS THE BEST.I NOTICED SOMEONE SAID TO RINSE THE PLATES FIRST BUT I SAY WHAT IS THE POINT IF YOU ARE GOING TO DO THAT YOU MAY AS WELL JUST HANDWASH THEM UP IN THE FIRST PLACE.

Mine does that to sometimes. I always run vinegar through it (empty). Also try something like Jetdry.

Also, Consumer Reports (and I do too) recommends Wal mart Dishwasher detergent. I think it works better than Cascade!

I had that same problem and found that if I put less detergent in they came out cleaner. Maybe too much leaves a mess on the dishes.

You can get a new dishwasher, either brand new (store brought) or used but in good working condition.

You can also try fixing the dishwasher if you suspect its got any problems... or maybe its the detergent you're using.

Or you can also ditch the dishwasher and handwash, like me. Dawn is awesome :)
