I was cleaning my grout with cleaner, some splashed on to my stainless steel fridge causing black spots. I have tried stainless steel cleaners and polishes, and a lot of rubbing and buffing, nothing seems to work.

You have to be very careful w/stainless steel frig!
W-D 40 on a rag will clean a stainless frig and is the ONLY thing manufacturer will recommend! Anything else will NOT work and is NOT recommended. Also, make sure you go with the grain.

Quite a few companies make stainless steel cleaners. Don't use Windex, I was told when we bought our stainless fridge and stove. Go to Home Depot or a store like it and I am sure they will have some to choose from. I bought these pre-treated wipes for Stainless Steel at Bath & Beyond (like Lysol makes) and they work wonders for a quick cleaning. Linens N Things also has some wipes.

Make a paste using a mixture of baking soda and water. Paste should not be runny. So, adjust ingredients accordingly. Apply to a washcloth and gently rub off stains using back and forth motions. It is okay to increase rubbing pressure on stubborn areas. Last, wipe off residue with clean damp cloth, rinsing cloth often. Works great for me.

try goof off. it comes in a little can at home depot or lowes. if that doesnt work then use sand paper or scotchbrite, 120 grit, but you will have to rub the whole thing to make it match. im in the stainless business and thats what i would do.
