When looking for houses we saw this house and we bought this house about one month ago, we did not notice any creaking noices? Since we have been here there is creaking sounds all the time. We have been told that it is due to the heat in the attic and the cold inside the house meeting each ohter.

When the weather get cooler, will the creaking cease and at least decrease somewhat?

I removed all the baseboard of course, but don't want to remove the door moldings. I can't use a saw as it will cut "into" the trim but then there is no way to cut "down" to get the piece out. How do I get a nice clean, neat cut off the bottom of the trim so I can slide the laminate flooring slightly underneath?

There is a leak in one of the connectors that goes through the motor, it seems almost impossible to get the two pipes flush and a leak occurs when the water pressure mounts. Any help would be greatly appreciated. We have tried using sealant, but it did not work

For a bedroom that is over a fairly noisy street with floor-to-ceiling windows (sliding door on one of them), what is the best way to soundproof the room. I don't mind blocking out the view for that particular room.

How much would it cost to have an interior decorator come in and take a look at our cabinets, counter tops, floors, furniture, etc... and make recommendations on colors for the walls?

My husband and I are building a new home. I would love to put ceramic tiling in my kitchen/dining room (they are combined). Do you think that 14'X23' is too large for tiling? Its a concrete slap, and we will be doing the work ourselves. Any tips would be helpful!! I am looking for tips, suggestions, tools needed, extra supplies, ideas, horror stories, "turned out good" stories, I will take it all! Thanks so much!

I live in an apartment and have my japanese maple in a pot on my balcony. It is probably about seven feet tall. I live in a zone 4 so obviously just leaving it in the pot on the balcony isn't an option. I have no garage to over winter it in.... Any suggestions? Can I mulch the heck out of the top of the soil and wrap it in burlap or some other insulating material? As long as the roots don't freeze will it be ok?

The mini split ac's come precharged with freon. this allows one to just install the unit, and connect the lines. it states to purge, or evacuate the system after the lines are connected. the only air would be from the actual 15' lines that were connected. will the ac run good without be purged or evacuated? this ductless system is new, and ive heard people installing them without fancy equipment. id like to know if i can get good cooling, without the hvac tools. what do you guys think?
