A couple weeks ago our water was out for a few hours because of maintenance in the neighborhood. When it came back on, the water level in the toilet bowl was very low and it remains that way, even if I hold the handle down when flushing (in which case the water level rises but eventually goes back down). What can I do to permanently raise the water level?

My Wards food dehydrator doesn't heat any more, and the only thing that I can't check is a small electronic component in line with the heating coil. The fan went bad, and the plastic fan blade melted. After replacing the fan, the heating element won't heat. Thought maybe this is some sort of fuse that blows when it overheats, it looks somewhat like a diode to me (rocket ship shaped). I'm tempted to just short circuit the device, but would prefer to replace it if I knew what it was. I tried measuring the resistance with my meter, and it read open circuit, even switching the leads. Can anyone help me identify this component?

We are remodeling out kitchen. It will have a simple feel but he actual decor will be more vintage inspired. What do you think is a good color for kitchen walls?

Does the dirt come away with the steam? or rise to the top so you can wipe it off? or does it disovle? does it just force the dirt deeper into the sofa/carpet where it rots and smells but can't be seen?
I'm thinking of buying one, but this question has been bugging me for days?
Hope someone technical can help, please try to limit the silly answers!

After 3 degrees and 10 years spent building a computer-based career, I'm leaving this career to get into carpentry.

My wife got a great job that gives us the financial freedom for me to take the paycut.

How should I get started?

Can you tell me what you think of it and whether it was worth the investment? We love our memory foam pillows but don't want to spend that kind of money on a mattress unless it is truly worth it.

Is there a good disinfactant I can put in my bins to make them smell sweet? I wash out tins, cartons etc., and wrap rubbish in doubled plastic bags, but I would like my bing to smell nice.. I have tried Jeyes Fluid, but it doesnt smell nice, and Zoflora, but thats a bit too dear to slosh into bins. My bins dont stink! and I want to keep it that way; I would hate the job of emptying them, so would like to make it nicer for those who do.

A friend of ours is having an issue with their electric hot water tank.

Yesterday they noticed a steady stream of water coming from behind the covering of the top thermostat. When I got there, I removed the electric door over the top thermostat and noticed a steady spray coming from behind the upper thermostat itself. It almost appears to be coming from the element (or through the element washer). The area around it is rusted, however the rust doesn't appear to break the surface of the tank.

My knowledge of hot water tanks is limited (especially with electric ones) however, I'm pretty handy with plumbing as I worked for a contractor for a year or so and did some plumbing.

So my question is: Is this a project that can be done without calling a professional? How easy is it to replace the element or element washer? What is involved with removing the lid of the tank?

**I've asked this question before, but now I have a lil more knowledge on the actual problem and detail*

Hello all,

I've recently bought my first house and inherited a wooden deck & surround railings. The deck's weathered (gone a bit green), and the railings are looking a bit flaky. I started to brush the deck hard with a stiff bristle brush, to remove the green... but I'm concerned that I may have stripped any protection on the wood.

My question is, what DIY product should I look for, to protect and improve the appearance of both the deck and railings?

Thanks

I went and signed the contract, read through it.Rent at £900 a month. All good,so went to the flat and there was no floor down and quite a bit of work still to be done. And me with 2 vans full of stuff. But i told the landlady i could live with that, as long as she promised it would be done as soon as, which she did promise.Yesterday the agent rang me and said the rent was supposed to be £950.He put his hands up and said it was his fault. Now the landlady has put a stop to all work being done.I am thinking if she is being such a cow now what will it be like later! I am thinking i will find another flat ASAP, and move! without her knowing till the actual move. Ahh she has not had a penny of me yet so that is not a problem! What do you guys think i should do?
