I want to change my countertop, but I noticed that a side of the wall is curved. How do I cut it so that it curves? I am not getting granite countertops. I'm getting the cheaper ones.

use a sabre saw ( jig saw ) where you outlined the area you want to cut line it with masking tape this prevents the material from chipping or any kind of rough edges.

The easiest way to do this is to put the counter up againts the wall and then use something to trace the curve in the wall onto the top of the counter top. You can do this with a compass. Or take something round, put a hole in the center of it and then "roll" it along the wall with a pencil/pen sticking through the hole so it scribes the shape of the wall onto your counter. How big a round disc you use will dictate how close you put the counter to the wall. If it's a small circle, you can just push the counter up against the wall. If it's large, you'll want to pull it away from the wall so you don't end up marking it too far into the counter.

Once you've marked the counter, cut it with a jigsaw if there's enough to cut off or use a belt sander if it's just a little bit.

Good luck.

I make custom counter tops for living. This will sound way too simple but this is how we "pro's" do it. Get a large piece of cardboard. If you are making a kitchen counter it will be 25 inches wide so get your cardboard about 30inches by however long your wall is. Now, cut your cardboard to fit the wall. Put the cardboard on the counter top and mark the top. Cut on your line with a jigsaw. It doesn't need to be perfect if your top will have a back splash. The splash will cover a little bit of fudge.

using a compass set to about 1/16 inch or as deep as the wall is out of line , push the new counter into place as far as it will go and draw the curve onto the back edge, sand to this line and it will fit right to the mark. it's called scribing google it up. good luck
