Is there a good disinfactant I can put in my bins to make them smell sweet? I wash out tins, cartons etc., and wrap rubbish in doubled plastic bags, but I would like my bing to smell nice.. I have tried Jeyes Fluid, but it doesnt smell nice, and Zoflora, but thats a bit too dear to slosh into bins. My bins dont stink! and I want to keep it that way; I would hate the job of emptying them, so would like to make it nicer for those who do.

Wash the bin out with a pressure washer or hose and leave it turned upsides down until it drains dry. It is better to do this on a hot sunny day obviously.
Alternatively, you can get wheely bin liners from hardware stores so that the dustman only has to lift out the bag.
In some areas there are firms which come round and clean and disinfect the bin for you. Only about £3.

As long as your bin is clean then really it just needs a breath of fresh air. I put my rubbish in 'smelly' bin liners (There £1.00 a roll at the local market). That means that everytime I put my rubbish in the bin I am also scenting it. It works really well so unless a bag spilts or something there's no need for all the hard work.
PS ; They bags come in a variety of scent: Vanilla, Roses, Lemon, etc

Have you tried putting a few Bounce tumble drier tissues at the bottom of your bin, they smell lovely and keep it ponging pretty, I put them in all my bins and everywhere round the house when we go away on our holidays, you come back to a lovely smell and you get a lot in a box too, good luck.

Is that all you have to worry about, what the binmen think of your dustbin?
Try vinegar, that can neutralise nasty smells, but if you want it to smell sweet, I mean it is a rubbish bin, kill the smell but don't over do it

IN THE AREA THAT I LIVE,THE DUSTBINS ARE EMPTIED EVERY 2 WEEKS SO THEY ARE OFTEN A BIT SMELLY. A COUPLE OF YOUNG LADS FOLLOW THE CART AND POWER WASH THE BINS OUT WITH LAVENDER SMELLING DISINFECTANT OUR BINS ARE WASHED INSIDE AND OUT AND SMELL LOVELY,IT COST US A COUPLE OF POUNDS SO THATS ONLY ONE POUND PER WEEK WHICH IS VERY REASONABLE.I ADMIRE THE LADS FOR THEIR ENTERPRISE ,NICE LITTLE EARNER BOYS.

I don't know if this will work for you, but I clean my garbage cans out about once a week with bleach or lysol.
