We just purchased this house... had a problem with cigarette smoke smell. We had several recommendations to repaint--I decided to start small with the whole repainting project thing by starting with the guest bathroom. It had some nasty looking border in it, so I used some hot steamy water to help remove the border. Only did a small section-- well the border came up... so has a lot of the paint. Now I have this large area where the paint is now gone, it peeled off in big sheets! I can see the drywall, and when I wipe my hand over this drywall, to me, it smells like smoke. I had planned on wiping down these painted walls with TSP substitute, priming with Oil Based Kilz odorless primer, and painting another latex paint. Now what do I do!? Have I screwed up the walls? Should I wipe down everything (including the visible drywall or whatever) with the TSP? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! Clueless!! I want to do this right!!! Help!!!!
