we have a hornet nest about 6 feet off the ground swarming with hornets, and something tore into it, and completely shredded it, and apparently ate the larvae things out of it, and they were nowhere to be seen- the hornets are still there- any ideas??

My a/c started freezing up about a week or so ago when some really hot weather started hitting. It will run for about a day and some cold air will come out - but not really strong - and then the unit out back will freeze (with ice). I let it thaw out and turn it back on and the fans start up and all and the house slowly gets cool but then the next day it freezes again. I have replaced the filter and made sure several times it was in the right way. What should I check next? I do not have the money for an expensive service call and it is 100 degrees out there today in the shade. This unit has worked up until now and I have seperate units for the upstairs and downstairs. The one I am having trouble with is on the main level.

Thank you

We have a large yard and garden. Deers, rabbits, and other pests can be managed. But, we now watch our step for fear of twisting ankles or sometimes total loss in the garden!

What size central heat and air unit do I need for a new construction? It is 1500 sq. ft. ,a simple rectangle, 1 story, standard ceiling height. It does have a full basement that I would like to finish sometime later and will of course want it heated and cooled.

I have a white metal stove hood ventilator in good condition. I have changed to a black/stainless stove and would like my stove hood to match. Must I use special paint for this application? I do not want to remove it to paint.

Other than light bulb replacements with flurorescent
Would like to hear ideas on water heater timers and insulation blankets and what you think. My AC is 10 years old and the water heater is 7. Water heater is electric - AC is central air - heat is natural gas. All appliances are electric. This is a 2BD 868 ft2 condo - bottom floor - 20 years old.

My friend referred me to this guy for 2 small bathroom remodels and vouches for him and his work. However, he's not licensed, but he's cutting me a deal and his bid is much lower than the other estimates I've gotten. Any suggestions when dealing with an unlicensed, uninsured contractor? Thanks!

I live in south Mississippi. We bought a house and there are fig trees that obviously haven't been trimmed much (if at all) because they are well over 10 feet. I'd like to trim them down as much as possible so that the fruit isn't so high and I can pick it. I know that the fruit will only grow on new growth, and it doesn't matter to me if I have to skip a bearing season...I just want to get the trees back down to a maintainable level.

There was a leak in my ceiling from the upstairs shower. Now there is a bulging spot where the paint is chipping away. Can I wack away at it and re-do it with stuff from home depot? I have no idea how/what to do...
