What size central heat and air unit do I need for a new construction? It is 1500 sq. ft. ,a simple rectangle, 1 story, standard ceiling height. It does have a full basement that I would like to finish sometime later and will of course want it heated and cooled.

You will need about 2 1/2 ton unit... But your dealer can give you the exact need by giving him the room sizes of the cooling space.

go to a store that sells central heat and air units and talk to the ppl there and tell them u need one to heat and cool 15oo sq. ft. and there is a basement that u want heated and cooled. witch actuly u would need a unit to heat and cool3000 sq.ft. cause u have the basement and the normal floor.
