The landlord is selling my house to me and has offerd to do several updates prior to the sale. I feel strange making a counter offer to his asking price. Is this a normal procedure when buying a home?

I have a LG 32LX1D LCD TV, Tivo Series 2, Sony DVD player with Component Outputs, and a Comcast CableCard, and an old-school VCR, all of which I would like connected. (No special audio considerations, for now).

What's the best way to do it? The Tivo does not have component outputs (not HD-compatible) so I'd like to run S-Video and Composite Audio to the TV. Can someone help me figure out how to wire this?

And, how does the Comcast Cablecard work? I realize it plugs into the TV, but is there a cable running from the Cablecard to the TV? Or to another device? Thanks for the help!

I am staining and finishing oak doors for the first time. I used a gel stain for color and then I have applied 3 coats of Varathane polyurethane with a satin finish. I prep sanded the wood using 80 grit and worked up to 220 grit. I wiped the wood surface with a damp rag to raise the grain and hit it with the 220 sand paper again after it dried before staining. I used a tack cloth before the stain and first coat of poly, and roughed the poly in between coats with 000 steel wool and cleaned with a tack cloth before I applied the next coat with a proper brush. Now that I have applied the final coat, how do I remove the imperfections from the top coat of poly it, or is it even possible? To the eye, the flaws are invisible, but when you run your hand over the surface you can feel what can be described as "grains of sand" every so often. I was just wondering if you could achieve that "perfectly smooth" topcoat without hurting the satin finish or am I asking for too much?

I have bought numerous pillows but cannot find a comfortable one. I tried to buy one from a hotel before but they wouldn't sell it, it didn't have a label so I wasn't able to try to find one like it but it seemed to be medium firmness.

The pool is being built in Costa Rica with minimum temperature variation, lets say between 60F to 90F. The contractor connected the deck with the wall of the pool, and I am concerned if such approach, without the copping brick-to-deck expansion joint will not cause any problems. Concrete deck is about 10 Ft wide, 40 ft long.
Thank you for your answer.
