Vertical blinds being better

Curtains are a very formal application, not-to-mention more expensive. My vote would be for blinds. There are a lot of choices for vertical blinds, but there are also a lot of vertical blind alternatives to consider. Such as sliding panels, vertical honeycombs, vertical sheer blinds, etc. I am a little biased since I work at this company, but I think we have a great selection of products with exceptional pricing. I will provide a couple of links below. I hope this helps. Happy shopping.

Consider the style, size, and shape of the window, and what you want the curtains for. Think about the room, its proportions and what it’s used for, the upholstery, and accessories. Curtains can be hung from rods in a number of ways.

Although most are functional rather than stylish, some decorative types are available. The right choice will not only enhance the window but also turn an ordinary room into a really special place.

Here are ten household helpful hints for choosing curtains:

1. Match curtain fabric with upholstery to unify space that seems untidy.

2. Use carpet to mark off space. A rug is ideal for establishing a social zone within a room.

3. Fabrics with classic patterns give a period feeling to the ambience of a room.

4. Remember that the bed linen, tablecloths, and towels also contribute to decoration.

5. Sheer curtain and gauze enable us to filter light.

6. Venetian blinds allow control over the amount of light entering a room.

7. Do not limit curtains and blinds to just windows. They can be used in an excessively long passage or hallway. Blinds make good screens.

8. In rooms with a lot of pictures, different colored walls, or furniture, it is suitable to use neutral tones for the curtains and upholstery.

9. Take advance of fabrics by using them to renovate your furniture.

10. Use rugs and tapestries as hanging on a wall. Their color and texture are unbeatable and they improve acoustics.

Yeah i have both, you can angle vertical blinds during the day to move the light then close both blinds and curtains at night for total blackout and privacy.
Have you looked at Roman blinds - really popular at the moment and there are some great finishings on Roller blinds with leather trims or wood bars

Vertical blinds and curtains as you can draw back the blinds to get lots of light and sunshine in, but keep your curtains there for decorative purposes, plus they help to hide the blinds and when its chilly in winter you can also pull your curtains

I'd go with horizonatal blinds with a valance at the top. I think vertical binds look very apartment like. However, it is for a sliding glass door, it may be your only option.
We have horizontal wood blinds on all of our windows with a nice valance on each. Then, for our sliding glass door, we have bamboom blinds that we can roll down to cut out glare, and if it gets really sunny, we also have curtains.

Curtains... For either you will have them over 10 years and blinds will soon be going out of style. Unless of course you are talking about blinds that are sandwitched between glass.

I myself prefer Vertical Blinds.......Because, you dont have to take them to the cleaners, or worry about, them getting touched, ripped, or bleached by the sun....whereas, with Vertical Blinds you can just wipe them down......They are just so much more "Modern-looking" now, too.....Out with the Old, and in with the "New".......Good-Luck, choosing.........

id say both, with just curtains-people can see in your house, and you get a lot of sun all day long, and with blinds, you can control the light in your house and the neighbors cant see in.

,curtains absorb noise so if you have a noisy household they are best and if you have old windows they will save you electricity in the winter.
quiet house and double glazing go for nice cheap ikea blinds then you can throw them out when they get dusty.
