I working around the house and I had a garden show playing on the television. They were talking about pests in the garden. They said something to the effect that a mixture of rubbing alcohol, dish soap and water would kill any garden insect and yet not be harmful to the environment or to the person eating the produce. Does anyone know (a) if these are the correct ingredients and (b) in what proportions they should be used? Guess I should have stopped what I was doing and paid closer attention. Oh well. Thank you in advance for your help. :^)

Do I need to remove the existing 1" ceramic tiles in the shower stall, or can I apply the new 8" ceramic tiles right on top of the old ones? The sides are drywall, but the floor of the stall has 1" tiles that look like a pain to remove.

I want to go into tissue culture. I have tried it many years ago in College but in the confines of the University tissue culture lab. Will I be successful if I install my own do-it-yourself equipment(which I learned from the internet)? Any tips on how to go about the tissue culture process at the home level?

I am seeking a supplier of water pumps to be used within water butts.
The pump will require a float switch & water flow control as it is intended that a standard garden hose be fitted, allowing one to water the garden.
Standard water butts hold approx - 40 gallons. A pump would empty this amount very quickly, unless one could control the water flow to last approx - 10 minutes allowing enough time to water an average size garden before running dry!
The companies that have been contacted are either to expensive or not currently suppling.
It is understood that italy is a source but efforts to locate have so far failed.
CAN ANYONE HELP PLEASE.

We live in Southern Michigan in an apartment complex. There are a lot of crab apple trees lined up and one about 15 feet in front of our balcony. We've seen (and heard) lots of birds that seem to be living in that tree, and some that seem to live inside vent covers on the side of the building. I don't know what kind of birds they are, but they are very small and not very colorful, with patterns of brown, black, white, and maybe a hint of yellow on some. The seed we put in was a fruit-sunflower mix (with those little round ones, too). The feeder is hanging at the edge of the balcony (second floor) about 3 feet higher than the tree. We put the feeder up last night, and this morning, one or two birds noticed the spilled seed on the balcony, but none have actually gone to the feeder. We tried putting little piles of seed on the rails of the balcony leading up to the feeder, but they haven't found those either. Do I need to adjust something for them to take notice?
