I want to go into tissue culture. I have tried it many years ago in College but in the confines of the University tissue culture lab. Will I be successful if I install my own do-it-yourself equipment(which I learned from the internet)? Any tips on how to go about the tissue culture process at the home level?

My best tip is not to try this in your kitchen. A kitchen is full of things that can effect damage on your cultures. Try making an area in a basement or laundry room that's been sprayed down with bleach/vinegar solution first. Using clear plastic sheeting taped to entryways and blocking windows and installing fans to blow outward when you enter or exit the room might help some.

As for air entering the room--you will need to figure out how to filter that effectively. It will depend on what you have already or what you can get inexpensively. An atomizer or ionic breeze would help a little.

Make sure to get disposable booties to put on before entering the room too. They have them at medical supply stores.

Good luck!

I thought it was virtually impossible to get conditions sterile enough outside the laboratory . At least that's what I was told when I enquired about doing the same thing. If you manage to do it let us know how.
