I am seeking a supplier of water pumps to be used within water butts.
The pump will require a float switch & water flow control as it is intended that a standard garden hose be fitted, allowing one to water the garden.
Standard water butts hold approx - 40 gallons. A pump would empty this amount very quickly, unless one could control the water flow to last approx - 10 minutes allowing enough time to water an average size garden before running dry!
The companies that have been contacted are either to expensive or not currently suppling.
It is understood that italy is a source but efforts to locate have so far failed.
CAN ANYONE HELP PLEASE.

I think your aiming in the middle of the market.

Draper make float activated pumps but probably too large for your requirement (more suitable for emptying septic tanks).

I don't know of one specificly for water butts but you could use a soaker hose attached to the tap to water your garden or a dripper system you can get these from any good garden centre

I use both on my allotment there is a timer set on the whole system so it runs for 20 minutes a day in the evenings and the water goes where I want it

I have a water pump which empties in about five minutes, but sometimes it can last anywhere from half an hour to an hour. My water butt has a heating element and often takes all of the water from my pump, but overall it manages to make a fun time out of heating the pump up. My water pump can fit in any water butt, but it prefers larger, foreign water butts. If you would like to see my water pump, please let me know and I will show you how it can fit into any water butt and fulfill any need.

Why not raise your water but so gravity can feed a drip system or a soak hose. That way you can turn the tap on, save electricity and the co2 generated and pull a few weeds in the time you save meaning you don't need to use weed killer.

Much cheaper, easier and GREENER. :)

If you are able modify a pump from caravan sink unit, should work off a transformer at 12 volts for safety.
