take an old spray bottle fill it with hot soapy water the hotter the better, spray on wall paper you will need to drench it, let it soak for a little bit, it should come right up might need to scrap a little bit, but make sure the wall is completely dry before you paint it, you will want to put a drop cloth on the floor can get very messy, please don't wast your money on store bought chemicals or the rental machine neither of them don't work very well..

I have wall papered alot and had to remove old wall paper too. The best I found (and fastest) is the Wagner Wallpaper steamer. It cost about $50 but is well worth the money. It bets DIF (which I think is useless) and anything else. Besides removing wallpaper it takes the glue right off

Mix a cup of white vinegar to one gallon of hot water and apply with a sponge or pump-up sprayer. Protect the floor.
Moisten one section at a time. when the paste is soft, scrape it off with a flexible 4" putty knife. Get as much off as you can, then wash with the vinegar solution using a sponge.
When the wall is dry, sand with 120 grit sandpaper. Apply a good quality primer ( I prefer oil, but it's up to you).
It's not rocket surgery.

warm water with a mild detergent should remove the paste. Stubborn spots may require a little soaking with wet sponge.
