Okay, I know this can get heated, but I am curious. I realize how addicting smoking is and how it is very hard to quit. I sympathize with people who try and have trouble with it.
What I want to know is, if people know how addicting it is, if they know the health risks, if it is not even considered cool anymore, they know it stinks and creates social pariahs, then why do they start in the first place? It is not even considered rebelious.
What compels someone to start up the habit?
And it should be more of a reason than because someone told them not to.
Why start?

Hi since i can rememeber i have swelling and pain in my knees and joints, but recently about the last year or so the pain has come into my hip and left side of my back, and my toe joint is also swollen and aches the same ache as my legs and back do. I have been to the doctors and he hasnt said what it is yet, he used to tell me it was growing pains but now i am older and there is pain in other areas im thinking it could be something else i think the doctor also thinks this as there is nothing i do that can cause my joints to swell, The pain is always there and the i was given ibuprofen and it takes the swelling down a little, but as soon as i stop taking them it come back swollen and very sore. my legs and also my foot and toe. Dose arthritis spread? I have to go back to get my joints checked but i dont want to mention arthritis. As i aint really sure about the symtoms.

My 14 month old daughter just ate a small handful of kitty litter- it was not a 'clump', or we'd be at the ER right now. It was just some loose kitty litter she'd gotten into. I don't think she swallowed much, if any, of it. Should I be terribly concerned??? Please, only serious answers....

I am changing jobs and my new job wants me to take a hair sample test for common drug problems. I was at a party one month ago (labor day weekend) and was around a lot of people that were smoking marijuana, I think I may have gotten a contact high. Would something this minimal cause a failed test?

I have been getting headaches every day at work for the past 2 weeks. Thinking it was the lighting, I installed a desk lamp - still the headaches. Maybe it was the monitor glare - but I have the glare screen.... I mentioned it to one of my friends and she said that she was having them too. I was then on a mission. I asked other co-workers and 9 out of 13 had the same symptoms that we have. We work in a corporate building that was built in the 70's. Although remodeled; the ceiling and most wallpaper is original... I'm thinking it could be toxic mold. I've done a bit of research on toxic mold and it's a good possibility; Anyone have an experience?

I have been diagnosed with ADHD by several doctors in the past, stating that I have moderate to severe ADHD. I have always done well in school, through the "brute force" study method and a good work ethic. However, I have always felt very spacy and can usually not remember the last movie I saw, what I had for breakfast, what I did yesterday...normal recent things that most people seem to retain.

I recently got put on Aterol (10mg 2-3 X/day). Holy Shittles!!! What a CRAZY difference. I can now blow through 40 pages of a test book, fall asleep, and retain much of what I read the night before. I can actually listen in class instead of just sit and stare at the girl's breasts next to me. I can now study for and hour or two without getting distracted every 15 minutes.

It seems like a miracle drug. The only side effects are: sweating, dry mouth, some shakes, slight anxiety, and sometimes it's hard to sleep. Are there any long term side effects I should be aware of?

I've been smoking ciggarettes since i was 13 and ill be 21 soon. My husband of over 2yrs hates when i smoke. I've been trying the patch its not too bad but it makes me dizzy and i get headaches. Do u think my husband is being too controlling on telling me to quit? and are there easier remedies to just stop?

I was walking home from church this past Sunday and had a seizure. I just kept walking trying to fight it but it started to hurt in my lower rms really bad so I just sat down on the sidewalk and grabbed on to a fence that was beside me and waited for it to pass. What should I do next time that might be better than what I did last time? (Note: I live alone and am new to the area that I live in so I don't know anyone yet except for maybe my landlord and my next door neighbor.) I am afraid to go outside to run my aronds because of this and afraid to go to work etc.I've seen where people have dogs that help them, but I live in apartment building that does not allow pets. The doctors have run blood test done ultra sounds, sent me to specialist and the best they can tell me is that the spinning is vertigo and that maybe I have allergies. Oh and they found some cysts on my thyroid but don't beleive that they are affecting me.I want some real answers can anyone lead me in the right direction. I feel like a guinea pig.

Ok. a couple years back I woke up one morning and I had a bitter taste in my mouth, I went to brush my teeth and I saw that I had black stuff all over my mouth and tongue. It looked like a black dye. it never happened again but I was worried for a while. should I still be worried?

how do you get rid of a red spot that hurts when you touch it?
