I would suggest going to your local hospital and asking if you can shadow a nurse for a couple days just to see if this is what you really want to do....

Since time began there has never been enough nurses, and I doubt there ever will be. It can be rewarding and interesting. no two days are ever the same. The shift hours are not so good, you tend to have friends that are also in the medical business. It can mess up your social life with `outsiders`. The pay is not all that brilliant either. But, you will never be out of a job, when you have children and can not work full time, you are welcomed as a part-timer. Everyone loves a nurse! Go for it.

If u think that being a nurse is something that u would truly like, I think it would be an excellent idea. I would, however, go to a four year program and become a RN. Many hospitals r attempting to go all RN. Nothing against LPN's. I'm a LPN, but if I was able to continue school, I would get my RN. As it is right now, I can do all that an RN can, I just don't get paid for it. Do the extra years of school. Nurses can get a job anywhere because there is such a shortage.

You would be looking at between 65,000-85,000 you first year out iif you become an RN. The classes are very hard, and if you fail you have to start all over, but it's worth it. When you graduate, you should move to South Florida, the shortage here is an epidemic, sign on bonuses are about to pass 25,000 for a 2 year contract.

Why are you even asking this question? If you think you would enjoy being a nurse, go on and be a nurse, you don't need other people's advice for that!

Becoming a nurse is a great idea, there's a shortage of nurses right now and you would have job security.

Lily-if you really do like helping others it is a very good idea-----pays well and provides great satisfaction. If one gets into it just for the money they invariably hate their jobs hate their lives and cause everyone around them to be miserable. they themselves are miserable and coworkers suffer.i say jump on it if you really want to help others----you wont be sorry----as for the studies they aren't too bad if you'll try hard------as for tuition-----that can all be worked out somehow.

Yes it is.

Nowadays they have to import nurses since there are not enough to cover all the needs.

It would be great, and get well paid, besides.
