A perm looks thicker because of the curls. If you perm your hair just to straighten it out again, then you are going to make it thinner then it is now. The chemicals used to provide you with a perm, even hair coloring are so harsh that in most cases you will lose more hair when brushing and washing your hair then you would before messing with it. Maybe you should consider trying some of the products sold in most stores that add volume to your hair. If you still are not satisfied you can always ask a beautician. Best of luck to you.

Be really careful about getting a perm. That look is really OUT. If the stylist can give you one using larger curlers, you will get body and less curl. You know, you can buy products that you put in your hair that will make it seem thicker without having to get a perm and then straighten it. That's a lot of work and what if you get the curly perm?? EEEEK.

Dont waste money on a perm if you are then going to go and straighten it!!! Your hair gets destroyed from a perm never mind a straighteners to further burn it! Go to your hairdresser and ask for a cut which will give your hair definition as if it were thicker.

no, it will just ruin it. just go out and buy some thickening spray if you're really worried about it. at least it won't permanently damage your hair.
