Mental Health - February 2007

Lately i have been hearing voices and having visions. All night i hear people in my room telling me what to do ie. burn stuff, kill people, kill myself, eat all the food in the house and they warn me of dangers to. I also see small black imp like figures running around my house but only out the corner of my eye. The devil also appeared to me once sitting in a tree. He threw apples at me and told me to eat but they were all rotten and crawling with worms. Is this normal? Up till now ive just though either this happens to every one or that its just smoke and noices in the pipes that do it coz i eat alot of cheese and have a vivid imagination. what do u think?

I discovered that partner of 6 monthd had been a compulsive liar and had also told different things to different people. When they 'supposedly' fell in love with me the problems got worse and it was as though they tried to push me away. I know they have terrible issue with their Mum as my partner is the only one in the family that she seems to treat badly and seems to like upsetting them. They are now having therepy, how long should this take before we can know that we can try again and things will be different this time?

I realised that my colleagues shout when they have earphones on (with music playing) and they do not seem to realise that they are shouting.

Recently people have been commenting how tired I look. I started to try to sleep less (from a lazy 10/12 hours to a normal 7) however people are saying how tired i appear!
I was told 7 was normal, and it still really difficult for me get out of bed with energy!
I dont dont party or drink or smoke, im a 24 year old artist. Very happy. lots of talkative energy when i get going.

My husband suffers from depression. He knows this and flat out refuses to seek help. He says it will make him feel less of a man. He goes so far as to turn the channel when an ad comes on the TV for depression. He's always angry/upset/enraged/complaining or whining about some horrible that's happened to him. Or how everyone is against him, thinks he's stupid and that he's an awful person. He has a terrible sense of self-esteem. I can count on 2 hands the number of times I have seen a genuine smile from him.
I have tried to as supportive as I can, boost his ego when needed but I feel that my efforts are being ignored. I have talked to a professional about myself on occasion as well as the pastor of my church. I'm falling apart because the man I love is going to pieces. How do you cope? What's your secrets?

The man I am seeing is miserable and suffering from extreme depression and he is very suicidal. I have told him I will support him and be there for him and I have printed out heaps of information about Depression and Suicide for him. He has stopped taking his meds and he is getting worse and worse and does not want help.
