This can sometimes be a lifelong condition. If left untreated or if under-treated, the problems that occur will be more serious than merely attention-related. If treated appropriately with both medication and behavior modification, the disorder can be managed effectively. Often time and maturity resolve this condition but this doesn't mean that it should be left untreated.

I wondered the same thing. My nephew has add and hes on medication. Now he takes the medicine during the week but not during the weekend by his doctors orders. So i guess that means that he can only concentrate in school while on medication. That tells me that there is no cure just a solution.

Some people can over come this, they do have medicines for it but if it is left undiagnosed or not treated in the long run could turn into Obsessive Compulsion Disorder.

The ADHD will go away very quickly once the person has to start taking responsibility for his/her own actions.

Could be. I grew out of it. (Or perhaps I grew into dealing with it?) There haven't been enough studies done yet to determine what it is or what causes it, but I noticed that it seems to mostly be children. I wonder if it's a hormone thing???

ADD and ADHA are made up illnesses. People need to stop being lazy and become better parents. No more excuses.
