Just as an aside - researchers believe that a lack of the brain chemical orexin may be the cause of narcolepsy, but it will be awhile before orexin is made available, of course.

A friend of mine has narcolepsy. What they prescribe for her is amphetamines.

Provigil is a medication that is approved for narcolepsy... Meds like these and ritalin are not approved for the use of normal fatigue...

They usually prescribe Ritalin aka methylphenidate.
