Symptoms: paranoia, shaking, difficulty breathing, pounding heart, racing pulse, restlessness, difficulty concentrating and/or thinking clearly. I have had these episodes for years but much worse with starting menopause. I am on Paxil now and it is much better but I wonder why I am a victim to this. Any others with similar experiences or answers?

I think I am scared to go to sleep, I just realized it recently and haven't really talked to anyone, does any one know what type of help is available.
I have been afraid of the dark since childhood, I don't remember anything happening I've just always been not only scared but I panic if I am in the dark.
I don't keep up with news anymore because of all the things that happen to people when they are sleeping. My dad died in his sleep so I'm sure thats a contributing factor.
I take Ambien and most of the time it doesn't work, if I'm not careful I am up for days at a time. When I close my eyes all these images start happening, I've tried counting to divert my attention but it doesnt' work. I don't think I have just laid down and went to sleep in years, I think I eventually just pass out from exhaustion, I have had trouble keeping a job and just functioning. I know there is therapy available but I would rather hear from people with similar experiences
Thank you

i have a date at a girls house tommorrow. a girl i met while goin to the gym weeks back. however i struggle with mental health difficulties, like really strugglin with my self opinion and how bad i feel about myself. i have very high anxiety probs, and start breathin fast and become nervous sweaty and cant calm down. i also have panic attacks. i have racing thoughts and inner anger, but i dont think that will be a problem for me with a date with this girl. earlier on today i texed her to say, " are you still on for tommorrow?" and she hasnt replied all day? its 9:15pm now...and im wondering whether i should call her. but im scared of showing over eagerness, clingyness, neediness, possessiveness or any of them things. but deep inside me i feel unwanted, and rejected as i was lookin forward to the date tommorrow...what can i do, can anyone give me anything to hang onto, any hope or advice?

Ok, heres the deal. She started starving herself after her father died when she was in the eighth grade. She was never even chubby, but yet she just wouldn't be happy. It wasn't as major at first, like she would just eat one meal a day for a week before a party or something. But the summer before she started high school she ate one tiny meal a day and got down to 120 pds (shes 5'11) which is very very thin. And its got worse over the years. She's about to be a senior and now doesn't eat a bite of anything for 3 days at a time and when she does eat its like a few carrots. I've tried everything I know and she's been to counseling also but she said it was just a joke and they don't know how she feels (she had it really rough growing up). What can I do? She's destroying her body and can't even take a normal shower because she gets to where she can't breathe....help please.

Say I tread on a crack in the pavement I have to tread on one with the other foot in the same place so that my feet feel the same. Is that weird? My boyfriend thinks it is!

Hi everyone, I went through clinical depression due to delivering a still born baby. I am learning to deal with my feelings and on some level i am beginning to feel at peace. but.. I have had nausea and loss of appetite as a symptom of my depression and my appetite is comeing back and instead of nausea everyday I can finally go a week or so without any at all but It still bothers me that it is there. If i go a week without it I usually go the next week with it. this has been going on for a year now. My dietician said this is normal due to malnourishment but no one understands why I still have it with my eating back on track and everything. Has this happened to anyone before? if so how did you get rid of it? or do you no what it could be?

I always think i could not possibly be hypnotized.. but i see alot of magicians hypnotizing people easily. Yesterday, Criss Angel mind freak was about this. and Criss hypnotized a bunch of people in the street simply by giving them flyiers with special messages written on them.. All the people would fall to the ground asleep seconds after they looked at the flyers... So people are so weak and cannot avoid being hypnotized??? this is freaky, .. think about it.. bad criminals or rapist or whatver, hypnotizing a bunch of innocent people....

My friend of 25 years related an experience that changed his life. He was always depressed, lost his job and was drinking heavily. About to give up completely one evening he felt as if his "head blew up." This left him feeling extremely clearheaded and his memories and senses were heightened dramatically. He said he remembered songs he had forgotten, was able to sing and play his guitar better than he ever had.
He went to bed that night and was awakened by a room full of people. He wasn't afraid and spent the evening in conversation with them. He had a visit from an old girlfriend that had commited suicide many years ago. They talked about things he needed closure on. As the morning came the people started to fade and his "clarity" from the night before went with them.

I know this sounds really crazy but his whole attitude about life has changed. He no longer drinks in excess and is happy and enjoying his life now.

I am looking for experiences and books to read on this.
