No, I am the same way at times. I think it is because with the stairs and the ski lifts we have more of a chance of falling. When flying, we have the solidness of the plane and seats. At the cliff edge, you know you have to take the step forward and that you won't do it. I think there are a lot of people the same as us.

No, it's not odd or unusual. For some reason I have that feeling (not really fear) when I go too high up in a condo (8 floors or more). My strangest one that completely baffles me is that every time I have ever gone up into a lighthouse, I faint when almost to the top....completely pass out. I will never go up a Tuna Tower again. Talk about feeling like falling. I freeze, can't move, my hubby has to come help me down (thank goodness he's also a fireman, ha, I'm like a cat stuck up a tree). Any other high situation does not bother me at all. I think it's an equilibrium thing.

this is a type of phobia. the medical term for fear of heights is hypsiphobia. there are also lots of other types of phobias and probably u have also heard of some like fear of going into crowd (enochlophobia) or fear of closed spaces (Claustrophobia), fear of injections (aichmophobia) fear of spiders and insects (arachnophobia) and so on and so forth. the cause is unknown, but u can overcome it. the process is known as desensitization. what u have to do is first go upstairs upto the mezzenaine floor and look downwards. u will feel dizzy and scared. ok cease. then after some day try the same. this time u will not be so scared. then repeat the process again and again until u feel that u r not scared any more in looking downwards from the mezzenaine floor at least. then ride every subsequent floors (1st, 2nd, 3rd) and try the process. gradually your fear will disappear.

Absolutely. You are one seriously screwed up person. Seriously, no. Many people are scared of heights in some situations, but not others. I myself am not the least bit bothered by being at the top of a tall building or the edge of a cliff; I love flying (sometimes I even use an airplane); but I get very nervous on even a small step-ladder.

I am scared of certain heights, like standing on the edge of a cliff, one time I flew in a small airplane, which didn't turn out to be so bad, I was scared to death in the beginning, but then I began enjoying seeing how the view looks up high, If you believe in God just have faith and ask God to take it off your shoulders and put it on his shoulders, cause you can't handle it anymore. I understand being scared of certain heights, some people are scared of some things and others of other things. So you are not in this world alone on that subject. We all have phobias, it is just human nature. Pray and have faith in God. God Bless You.

No, this is not odd. I, too, am scared of heights - I always think I'm going to "fall off" an edge, or fall forward. I get dizzy (actually, I do have an inner ear disease, but the fear of heights came earlier) and feel really yucky. You don't say how old you are, but you will learn to adapt over time, and see what types of situations you need to stay away from.

sounds like a variation on acrophobia (fear of heights).. some peoople experience the fear due to dif. experiences in their lives. Have you ever been pushed off of anything like stairs or the ski-lift? Your fear sounds more specific than generalized. A person with generalized acrophobia may fear any type of height. I don't know that this will help but hope it's a start.

....Hi there, well not odd, unless I join the odd club!- am fine with ski lifts and stairs, but feel oddly drawn to the edges of cliffs- almost like being lulled into jumping- so I avoid them!, flying no problem, diving boards at swimming pools actually make me feel sick and I freeze up, high ladders -I like them- it's all irrational and I can't make sense of it either.... will keep an eye on the replies - see if anyone comes up with anything interesting!!

i fairly understand what you're dealing with. I easily have had certain extraordinary thoughts in certain places and fairly pricey, no individual can allow you to recognize for efficient. This all is an argument of opinion and perception, /some human beings like myself remember on reincarnation simply by certain thoughts or unusual reviews that won't be able to be defined to others on the grounds that they are going to snigger at you and imagine you're extraordinary except they percentage your perception. i'm no longer a religious individual in any respect yet simply by thoughts of reviews i trust i have had in a previous existence, i remember on reincarnation. Many right here, will imagine i'm extraordinary yet oh properly. you assert you're a cheerful individual without themes so whatelse ought to that's? :) Please do no longer be spooked about it and do not obsess about it. attempt to stay your existence commonly and do not allow this hardship you and at the same time, if thoughts come to you, welcome them yet do no longer speculate. information of a previous journey in a previous existence can help a lot in this existence. Please be at liberty to position in writing in case you opt for to finish that.
