Injuries - August 2006

I was walking around and I got a sudden backache in my upper back. It felt like a tightness between my shoulder blades and ribs. I couldn't take a deep breath and it felt like a stabbing pain. It lasted for about a half an hour and now I still have a dullbackache..and my ribs hurt! 6 hours later. Anyone got any ideas what it might be? I was thinking a pulled muscle or mabye air trapped somewhere? I really doubt a heart attack! Any input would be greatly appreciated!

it was so fun so i didnt want to stop but it just kept bothering me more and more. i bought this swimmers ear stuff from publix called auro-dri but it isnt helping that much. HELP

I got the injury 4 months ago and did not i give it proper time to heal (micro tear of tendon in ankle). I continued to play basketball and run. A bulge of scar tissue protrudes out when I bend my foot down. Is surgery the only way to remove it at this point, or can alternative methods such as magnetic therapy, applying heat and arnica gel actually help in getting rid of or breaking up the scar tissue. How about a coritcoid steroid shot? Please help!!

MY son wasnt breathing when he was born ,the hospital gave me dia morphine when i was in labour and it stopped his heart. he has slurred speach and although he can walk it just doesnt look right like, he goes up on his toes alot and doesnt have good balance . The doctors say he has a global developmental delay. does anyone have any information that might help me?

Over a week ago my 2 yr. old hit my over the head with his sippy cup.I don't know why he did it?I guess he really didn't know any better or maybe he didn't mean to.After he did it I fell to
the floor w/ my head between my knees screaming.Later that night I was real nauseated.There was a bump for a day.Then it went away.Now there is a small dent.Its barely noticeable.But it still hurts.Is it serious to have
a dent instead of a bump?

My lower back from one hip to the other hurts like heck all the time. My right hip is really starting to bother me alot. I cant even turn over in the bed. and have to acturally roll out of bed in the mornings I have been to a chiropractor he adjust me still no relief, went to my family doctor he told me to take naproxen and gave me some pain meds. I do stretches, but nothing seems to help I have been to an orthopedic doctor he just wants to dope me up. can anyone tell me if they have experienced problems like this one. What did you do?

I have rencently had an injury at school. One of my discs had come out of my back and now pain follows me wherever I go. For people who do not know what a disc is, it is a cushion in between you vertebraes to keep from bone rubbing on bone. I was planned to have a surgery right after school. The day before the surgery date, the hospital calls and says the have not recieved a letter of authorization from the insurance.

IT has been over two months and still no word. Until we recieve a letter. A letter comes from the Korean American Medical Group that is an authorization for the surgery. It shows that the insurance had approved the surgery after all on June 6th. I was scheleduled to have surgery on June 14th, if the authorization was mailed on time by the Korean Medical Group.

The Korean Medical Group is a branch of the original insurance company, Blue Shield, that we were under.

I don't know what to do. I need help! PLease somebody, anybody

i broke my arm was i was younger (about 10 years ago when i was 16) and two years ago i broke my leg (and now have a metal rod and screws in it). my doctor for each injury told me that after the bones heal they will be stronger than they were before i broke them. Both my arm (ulna and radias) and my leg (tibia and fibula) were broken badly and werent simple fractures. i find it odd that they when they heal they would be stronger. is it true that when they heal they become stronger or is it just a myth that doctors tell patients to make them feel better about the whole experience.

My son, two months ago, dropped a glass pickle jar onto the floor. While I was cleaning up the glass, I used my hand to get up. My thumb was bent under and I was cut. Now that I am back to work, my knuckle is throbbing. Do you think there could be a sliver of glass lodged in my nuckle?

I heard that dmso or msm cream will soften or get rid of scar tissue, I have to get into the skin about a 1/2 inch to get to it, any suggestions. Thank you and God Bless.

In anticipation of an injury settlement offer regarding a slip and fall injury within a grocery store, I am interested in the ramifications of accepting a settlement. Our medical insurance company will be reimbursed upon settlement for expenses they have paid to date. My concern is will our medical insurance pay any further claims related to this injury once we have accepted a settlement from the grocer. Our attorney is all in favor of accepting a settlement and does not foresee a problem with the insurance covering any future claims that are as a result of the slip and fall. Of course the attorney wants us to settle, money in his pocket. The injured party has already had a procedure done on her lower back which has given her significant relief. However, it still flares up on occasion and we feel it is not a question of if she will need further medical intervention, but when. Any advice from those that are in the know about such things will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

7 weeks ago I fell down my cement steps outside, trying to bring my bike in out of the rain. fell down3 steps,&bike fell on top of my ribs. Was rushed to the hosp. ER and they said no broken ribs,just internal bruising. The pain only got worse & told my doc. I wanted another test. Bone scan revealed 3 fractured ribs. I fell 1 yr ago in the tub, again they said "Nothing wrong". Asked for MRI wich revealed 2 herniated disc and a bulge. Another time I slipped cleaning leaves off my pool cover in late Fall & my foot slammmed under the fence, couldn't walk. Their x-rays said No broken bones. I saw and Orthopedic doc next day who did his own x-rays & said every bone on the top of my foot was broken. Now, I found a lump in my breast, confirmed by my doc. Had mamogram & 2 techs found the lump. Got sent to ultra sound & he found the lumps location as well. radiol. said nothing to worry about. No lumps. I don't believe him. What would you do? Breast cancer very dominant in my fam.

I landed on my hamstring in an odd way, it felt like some one crumpled paper in my leg, should i get it checked out? i was able to walk and put pressue on it jog a little with no pain, but when i tried to sprint i felt a sharp pain. As soon as i got home i iced it and wrapped it, any insight?
