You should alternate the two every twenty minutes. The ice will keep internal swelling down and the heat will relax it. I would also go buy some ThermoCare patches at any drugstore. They're awesome and last about 8 hours. My husband uses them at night and they last until morning!

Lower again anguish is in most cases because of an harm or pressure to the backbone. Cold packs will cut down the irritation, as will ibuprofen. Have you rested for the final 6 days or labored as average? I advocate you notice a healthcare professional. He/She will desire to perform a little assessments (X-ray, cat experiment, MRI) and prescribe muscle relaxers and perhaps anguish meds. If you are not able to see a healthcare professional, sit down-up reinforce the belly muscle groups which help the again. Gentle stretching and relaxation may also aid.

here's a trick i figured out from experience.
i'd lay on the couch avoiding pain. the id have to pee. i'd try to get up & when i was halfway up the spasm would hit me at the most cumbersome position! sucks.
1 day i got this idea & as i laid on the couch, i summonsed the spasm by moving my back until i got the spasm while still laying on the couch. doesnt hurt quite so bad but right after i could get up with no problem! takes balls to summons the deamon but it works. never got over a pulled back so quick! no drugs, cant afford doc+.
to relieve your back you want only warm MOIST pad. hot shower on it is best.

Your other 2 answers are right on the money. Heat, then ice. It's what chiropractors use to help ease strained muscles and to put vertebrae back in place.

I agree with the other answers, and then most urgent, get to the gym. I have had the same problem, and you need to strenghten your lower back, should take you about a month.

Good luck
