First Aid

Okay, when you're performing triage and you see multiple victims tagged as immediate, do you help those unconcious or concious (both with similar injuries) first?

I'd only like answers from healthcare proffessionals, and/or anyone with qualifications HIGHER that Standard First Aid and CPR C.

I was sharpening my knife and when I finished and went to put fold it back in, I shoved it into m finger so it cut diagonally into my finger, so basically it's all skin that got ripped up and it's bleeding at the base of the slice.

i have like 3 bites on my legs, im guessing theyre mosquito bites, and one is like REALLY itchy and swollen... its like 2.5 inches big... like in diameter.. yeah its gross.. anyone have ideas whats wrong w/ it? i didnt scratch it much... it wasnt anymore then the other two...

I got bitten by a fly last night when I was at a fire on the beach. I was scratching it a lot last night in my sleep, and now this morning when I wet my arm, I can notice that the lump is huge on my forearm, probably the size of a newborn's fist. Is this normal from too much scratching? I can't see the lump hardly, but I can feel it...

She just ate canned tuna fish that had been sitting out about 12 hours. I caught her in time, so she only had a little. Should I take her to the E.R. now or wait to see if she gets sick? I am freaking out!

the dr. seemed like it was no big deal gave me the antibiotics, pain meds. and said to keep the would clean and change it 3 times daily which im doin i also squirt a few cc's of peroxide and alcohol in the hole then apply neosporin with a gauze bandage, but is this all you have to do , i mean you dont have to dig out the white dead flesh or does it come out on its own, this is my first bite, im on the antibiotics and keeping it clean please telll me if i need to do more, and i would rather do it than the money hungery doctors of our time, thank you

It felt like a pin prick and then bothered me a little. Then this morning I touched it and the pain started and swelling and redness. It is slightly throbbing too.

When does the swelling go down and throbbing stop?

My son got a wooden splinter in the ball of his foot yesterday evening. He is really reluctant to allow me near him with a needle or tweezers, so I need a method that is reasonably quick and effective. I do need to remove it as the area around it is turning red and he is having problems putting his foot flat to the floor.

Me and a kid were mucking round in his yard and i told him to put a apple on top of his head and i would shoot it off.
The arrow has penetrated his sholder entering from the frontal side of his body it went right through and got caught on the vanes of the arrow it only had a field point on it.
The bleeding has stopped and he isnt in much pain i applied a bit of antiseptic solution so it wouldnt get infected.
Will it need medical attention if we remove it or will it heal by itself. He doesnt want his mum and dad to fimd out.

Today i got this really bad nose bleed, I had to lean over the toilet and let it all drip out. this lasted about 10 or 15 minutes and the same thing happend yesterday. It has also happend a couple of times this year, last year i remember one. Im just talking about these bad ones I mean i still got a few normal nose bleeds but they aren't bad. These really bad ones started about 2 years ago, when I got my first really bad one it lasted about 30 to 45 minutes and that wasn't just dripping out, it like turning on a tap and watching the water trickle out. What is wrong with my nose, how can I prevent this from happening?

I live in BC, Canada and last night I woke up with a really bad bite on my hand. We've been leaving windows open because of the heat so I think it might be a spider bite. It was a white circle when I woke up and it wasn't too painful just VERY iritating to the point where I was almost in tears. I wasn't really sure what to do so I doused my hand in After Bite which seemed to work.. but now the side of my hand is purpleish and a vein on the side of my hand is suddenly very visable. Iv'e been looking for spiders in my room because i really dont want to be bitten again, the feeling was unbearable. Does any one know what kind of spider it could be or if it was even a spider?

We had a family BBQ this weekend and I did a lot of walking around with no shoes from indoors to outdoors. Lots of cooking and cleaning. I noticed a little pain when I walked on my foot and pressed down a certain way. My fiance' burned a stick pin and tried to pick it out. He could not see it but I could feel it when he brushed across it with the tweezers, trying to grasp it. No luck. He got tired (his eyes) and my foot was getting soar from the sticking with the stick pin. Please help. Thank you.
