My son got a wooden splinter in the ball of his foot yesterday evening. He is really reluctant to allow me near him with a needle or tweezers, so I need a method that is reasonably quick and effective. I do need to remove it as the area around it is turning red and he is having problems putting his foot flat to the floor.

The way i recommend is to use a needles and slowly and delicately open up the skin layers and then when the splinter is in reach use tweezers to pull it out and clean up the skin with methalated spirit with a cloth and place a band aid over it

If it is a large splinter or his foot is looking really irritated and swolen, you may have to take him to the dr. to have it removed. Small ones i have seen on mine, I just applied a facial mask to ( hey it draws out blackheads, must work on splinters a little). They eventually worked out on their own. But if it is painful and really uck looking then take him t the dr. The whole tweezer/needle thing will traumatize him and tear his skin up and maybe cause an infection. good-luck

Get a large bucket of warm water and add a quarter pound of epson salt. Lay your son in a comfortable position on the couch with his head elevated and the affected foot hanging over the edge.

Once he is at ease, stand with your back to him and reach behind through your legs, gently lifting his foot over the bucket.

Now plop down on him and pull out the tweezers you had hidden in your pocket. Keeping all your weight on him, he's helpless. Now it's just you and the foot, do what you gotta do.

He'll thank you for it some day. Or he may start hurting small animals and wearing a ski mask. At least you shut him up.

Soak the foot in warm salt water until the skin gets wrinkley and soft, sometimes it will come out on it's own like that, but if not it will put easily out with just a pair tweezers after soaking ...................

Tell him to take it like a man and let you use Tweezers. Tweezers always work.
