First Aid

Last night I crashed my bike into the sidewalk, and I sort of landed on my elbow, and when it hit the sidewalk, I heard a crunching sound. It hurts to move my arm from the elbow down, including my fingers. I didn't go to the hospital yet, because I didn't want to wait 3 hours for nothing, but I was wondering does it sound like it something could be broken, and if it is, will they put a cast on or what? Last weekend I got a cut on the top of my finger right under my nuckle. It was a small nick with a pearing knife. Well I did what I thought I was supposed to do. I washed the cut and put a dab of neosporin on the cut and covered it with a bandaid and I've been doing that ever since. Well I noticed that these past few days it's been oozing and it itches a lot. Im still keeping it covered but this morning I decided not to put Neosporin on it to see if that was the cause of the oozing and itching.
Could a small cut like this turn into something horrible?
Should I be worried?

I had a tetanus shot 3 years ago in the 6th grade and I scrathed my foot open on a nail outside, i put alchol and peroxide on the cut, could i still get tetanus??

Got big ones on my feet, skin has ripped off (blister not intact).. any idea how to best heal. Hate it when skin gets all hard, and hurts like hell.

Before answering, think about this .... in the medical field, employees are to always assume all paitents have infectious dieases, even, AIDS, so we are to protect ourselves...but int he heat of the moment, someone may be dying..would you stop and wonder about protecting yourself..before helping someone else....????

I have had a bad sore throat for 10 days now. I first went to the doctor after the sore throat wouldn't go away after about 5 days. 4 days later, I went again. Both times the doctors simply told me that I had some sort of viral infection, and they couldn't do anything for me.

I don't like this at all. I'm not sick very often, and I rarely have a problem like this. I've tried tons of things to cure the sore throat: advil, lozenges, water, chloraseptic gargle, cepacol, etc...

All of these things help to cure the pain temporarily, but after they wear off the pain just comes back again. I also have blister-like sores on the roof of my mouth which cause pain when trying to swallow. The pain is worst in the morning.

I nearly got into a fight with the 2nd doctor about the whole issue. He claimed that sore throats from viruses can last up to 5 weeks. This is just not acceptable to me. Surely there can be something I can do about this, or some way I can find the cause of the pain!

There are two of them, from a burn. One, the top skin has come off. What to do so it won't get infected? Let it air-dry or keep a band-aid on? What's the best thing to use? They are on the hand, looks painful!

My mother recently had poison ivy.She went to the doctor and he gave her something to get rid of it, and it did. Now, less then a week later, a bump formed on her leg. She told me it had a brown "head" and she poped it. This was three days age. Since then it has gotten much bigger and is oozing. Yhis is the first time I have seen it. I am going to insist she go to the docter again, but I want to know if anyone can tell me if there is something I can do for her right now. I feel so bad for her and want to help her.

I am under constant stress during the day,because of my college coursework deadlines,
and I eat huge portions every 5 hours, I sleep at 2:00 am,I am up at 8,then I sleep at 6:00 pm,I am up at 10:00 pm.

Our 9-year old son has swollen, red, runny eyes since an hour or two ago. We don't know what caused it but he did go swimming in our apartment pool about 3 hours ago so, that's a likely cause. We've tried Visine eye drops and of course washing face and hands. What else can we try tonight? We can take him to see a doctor tomorrow if it's not better in the morning but I'd like to avoid a $2,000 emergency room bill for something that will probably clear up in a few hours.

There is like a blister around the splinter and I can see a brown spot that looks almost like a scab. I think this is a splinter. What should I do? I am guessing see a doctor. What do you think?
