i used to abuse it all the time when i was a(dumb) teen. the dxm(dextromethorphan) in it causes a high similar to that of heroine when consumed in mass quantities(i.e. usually 8 or more corisidin pills, more as you use it since your body builds up a tolerance to it, similar to alcohol use). you can also find it in several other OTC medicines such as robotussin DM, which is also very popular. kids like to use it because parents rarely expect their children to abuse what is in the medicine cabinet, as well as it is cheap, and sometimes can be sold to minors(luckily walmart and most chain drug stores now keep their corisidin behind a counter, and you have to be 18 to purchase it).
i suggest if you are a parent to hide or lock up all of your medicines. if you are a kid, don't try it. it may not cause a physical addiction like most drugs, but it will cause an emotional dependency--i should know, because i HAD to use the stuff for 3 years before quitting.
also, many OTC drugs that contain DXM contain other ingredients that are lethal if ingested in large quanities.
hope this helps.

because it's a "D" formula, it contains a decongestant, which can be relatively easily turned into meth (the legal drug is mere molecules different than the illegal one).
However.. because of the increase in these drugs being used for such purposes, there is now regulations to how many you can buy at a time in most stores and pharmacies. They've also switched a lot of the cold/allergy meds to contain a different decongestant that isn't as popular for this purpose (the 'preferred' one is pseudephedrine). I can't remember if Coricidin is one of the ones that have switched, if they have, then it's possible that they're using it for the dextromethorphan, which another poster spoke about.

either way, they'd have abnormally large quantities of it - a telltale sign.
