For a month now I've been suffering from a peculiar sort of physical pain... a pain in the butt, or just above the hips to be precise, exactly at the point where my tail should have been if I said "grrrrrr" instead of "how do you do?" Jokes apart, it's a severe, momentary pain at the bottom of the spine and it happens when I bend my spine... for example, to reach for something at my knee level, etc. The pain is most severe when I try to bend over to reach for something on the floor, while standing. It feels like a sharp pointed pang, but it subsides before I can say "ouch!" I don't really recall exactly when it started about month ago, but I can say it started without incident. And at first i thought it was some sort of funny sprain or like... but it's worse, it increased.
My question is, what is it? How may I get relief -- is it necessary to see a doc or may I try something myself? It sounds orthopedic, so is there a chance that it'll change severity over time?
